Summers in Ibiza are enjoyed by thousands and thousands. The blazing hot days, beautiful beaches and towns, and incredible parties make this the most celebrated season.
However, there is another time of year that really deserves some recognition, the winter season.
While Autumn and Spring do obviously exist here, in general, the period from mid-October until mid-April is often regarded as the ‘winter season’. It's a time when Ibiza slows down, the colder weather draws in, and both the island and its residents relax and regenerate.
However, the lights don't completely go out. There's still a lot to be enjoyed and experienced, and for those who have very busy summers, this is the time to do it.
Now, read on to find out how the Ibiza Spotlight team makes the most of this beautiful season and everything it offers.

Once the closing parties are done and dusted, islanders are then gifted with three things: time, space, and (more often than not) lovely weather. I like to make the most of all of them with long lunches with friends (menu del dia’s are great value), getting a gym routine back in place, and lovely walks finished with a caná or two to celebrate our efforts.

Evening drinks with friends at Cebo and the stunning green hills of Es Broll
I live in the San Antonio area, so there are lots of great woodland and beachfront walks to enjoy. It's a few hours round trip to walk to Cala Bassa from my area, which I do regularly, with a dip thrown in to test how cold the water has become.
Many places do close, but those that stay open are like community hubs, so there’s always someone to grab a coffee or a beer with and be social.
My Saturdays are normally spent at the San Jordi secondhand market, picking up bargains, and then onto somewhere like Can Jordi Blues Station to catch a local band and enjoy the great atmosphere.

Halloween fun at Pikes Ibiza
One of my favourite times is Halloween. This really is an islanders time to celebrate all our efforts and hard work and let loose…and trust me, we do. You’ll often still see witches and ghouls roaming the streets the day after; it's quite a sight to behold.

For me, Ibiza in winter means a complete slowdown.
I love spending more time with my daughters, long walks along the beach with my dog Mia, meeting friends that you don’t have time to see during the busy summer, and hiking through the hills and countryside.
The town festivals are fantastic too! Towns filled with food and beer stalls and people enjoying live bands and children's entertainment, plus the warm winter sun always puts us all in such a good mood.
Another beautiful thing about winter on the White Isle is the parties, both in some clubs that remain open (like Akasha, Chinois Ibiza, and EsBirra) and in friends' homes. This is thanks to the people who stay and live here all year, who bring that fantastic spirit of love, awareness, positivity, and open-mindedness that makes Ibiza so special.
Finally, as the days get shorter and it gets dark earlier, one thing I love is sitting in the garden around a fire pit, sharing a moment of tranquility and reflection.
If you'd like to explore yourself but are unsure on which route to take, there are still companies that offer guided hiking and biking tours in winter.

I really like winter, especially because of the contrast with summer, which is full of energy from the holidaymakers but also busy with friends and family who come to visit. Then in winter, the island returns to its peaceful rhythm.

My favourite plans are going out to eat and taking road trips around the island. I love going for walks around Las Salinas and also going on a day trip to Formentera. I take my bike on the ferry and go cycling around the island, and enjoy a lovely picnic on the beach. Formentera on a sunny winter day is just wonderful to me.
There are also gastronomic and sporting events held every year, such as the Des Porquet race in February - a cycling circuit where you can even dress up - and the Pintxa Food Festival in March and April, both held in San Antonio.

Christmas time is fantastic with the markets and the arrival of the Three Kings, who usually come by boat. Oh, and on New Year's Day, lots of people go to Las Salinas, and the bravest ones take the first swim of the year.

Now my kids are older, most of my days begin gently with a gym session or Pilates, a grounding start before the day unfolds. The place I go to is surrounded by pine trees, so even a workout feels special.
Homemade marmalade making
At home, the rhythm slows further. In the afternoon, we light the chimney to fill the house with warmth. Weekends bring bonfires in the garden, and afternoons spent making marmalade with Ibiza’s oranges and kumquats. Sundays are for lunches with friends, cooking together, sharing laughter, and watching the sun drift down.
Winter also brings a surprising buzz of live music. The Jazz Point Festival kicks things off, followed by months of concerts across the island, from classical to rock and jazz. Intimate spots like JazzTà Bé, EsBirra, Teatro Pereyra, and Can Jordi come alive with soulful sounds and good company.
Ibiza Light Festival in Ibiza Town
Spending Halloween in Santa Gertrudis is one of my cherished local traditions. The village fills with families, children in costume, laughter echoing through the streets. It's pure island joy. November starts with one of my favourite highlights, the Ibiza Light Festival, which spreads across Dalt Vila and the port area. Fingers crossed it takes place this year.
Come December, Christmas shopping in Ibiza Town is a festive delight. The boutiques stay open, the lights twinkle, but there’s no stress, no queues, no chaos.
Life in winter here isn’t about hibernation. It’s about slowing down without stopping, embracing the small rituals, the community, and the beauty that shines even brighter when the island is calm.
If you're living on the island or visiting over this lovely time, there are two key resources we'd recommend: our events calendar and party calendar. Both will keep you updated with everything that's happening across the island.
