Holiday tips - Shopping

Opening hours and tips, for inspiring retail therapy on Ibiza.

From well-known retail chains to stylish boutiques and independent stores, Ibiza offers both residents and visitors a wide range of ways to shop and spend. Designer fashion, unique jewellery, souvenirs, hand-crafted art and traditional foods to delight are all easily found across the island.

Our fashion and shopping guide showcases some of the island's best independent retailers for both fashion and food.

Where to shop for fashion

Ibiza Town, the capital city, is the main hub, with the Avenue de Bartomeu de Roselló hosting many retail chains known across Europe. Throughout the winding streets, the selection of independent jewellery and clothing boutiques is vast, and a great way to spend an afternoon or evening exploring.

San Antonio and Playa d’en Bossa are both home to smaller retail clothing shops and clubbing branded stores, plus many great souvenir stores and small nightly street markets in both resorts during the summer season.

In Santa Eulalia, there is a great shopping culture. You’ll find many smaller clothing and shoe stores selling the latest fashions, more geared towards an older market, along with a good number of individual boutiques.

Santa Gertrudis has grown to be an inner-island design hub, showcasing many smaller clothing boutiques and homewear stores from independent designers. These are all slightly more upmarket, and you can expect the price tag to reflect that.

Even in smaller villages, you are likely to find beautiful clothing and wares, so it's always worth bringing a bag with you in case. It's also worth visiting the fantastic hippy and artisan markets on the island if you’re seeking one-off pieces to remember your visit by.

Where to shop for food

Large branded supermarkets, such as Suma, Mercadona, Lidl and Aldi are found on the outskirts of all major resorts. Easy to access, with great parking facilities, they are a recommended stop if you are staying in a villa or self-catering apartment to ensure you’re stocked up.

Otherwise, smaller stores and independent supermarkets are abundant throughout the streets of all resorts, with a huge range to choose from. Although it's worth noting that their ease of access from your accommodation will mean a more inflated price tag, even on the essentials.

Fruit markets, independent bakeries and butchers are in all of the larger, along with some smaller resorts, so you can enjoy island-grown and hand-selected items.

When to shop

It is important to bear in mind that Ibiza can have a very relaxed attitude when it comes to opening and closing times. While a siesta time (a midafternoon break, typically at times between 13:30 and 17:00) may be honoured by smaller stores and independent shops, larger stores will continue to trade throughout the day.

Therefore, for smaller stores, be prepared for them to open at 10:00, before closing for a break between 13:30 and 17:00 and reopening until 20:30 or even as late as 22:00.

Larger stores and retail outlets will generally open from 10:00 until sometimes 22:00 in the high season, between June and September.

Numerous shops in Ibiza, even the smaller ones, open seven days a week in high season, but prior to June and after September, they tend to be closed on a Sunday or operate at limited hours.

The times given above are guidelines only, and while we suggest checking Google for individual opening times, sometimes these are not kept up to date. While this may feel frustrating, it is worth remembering it's all part of the relaxed Spanish lifestyle we know and love.

Posting items from Ibiza

If you’re concerned about your weight limit, or have some special gifts for friends and family, then items can be sent from the post office (Oficina de Correos), found in all major towns.

You can find more details on their locations and opening times here.
