Ibiza club rewind | Pacha

The best sets from years gone by.

Pacha has been doing the business since 1973. Even for those who maths isn't a strong point, should be able to work out that makes 2023 a particularly special year. Ibiza's original super-club turns 50 years old!

Sculpted in the vision of Ricardo Urgell, Pacha and its cherries logo became a symbol of sophistication and liberation.

Today, the former finca and the rest of the Pacha empire are under the watchful eye of CEO, Sanjay Nandi. Dance music legend Pete Tong also sits on the board of directors.

The building has undergone expansion and structural changes, but still radiates the hippy nature of its origins.

The first in our Ibiza club rewind series looks at back at some of Pacha's key contributors in recent years. These are sets that capture the vibe of the club and its beautiful clientele. Who else could we begin with, than current Sunday night host Solomun?

Solomun +1 | 27 June 2014

In 2014, the Solomun juggernaut was still amassing fans and finding momentum. Although the party was well on its way to attaining superstar status, few could have predicted the level of success it would find.

Relive an early incarnation of the party, where German duo andhim were Solomun's guests.

An hour of andhim, followed by an hour of vintage Solomun, containing music by Matthew Dear, Fur Coat and Adriatique.

Vagabundos | 20 May 2016

Before Solomun was even a thought, from 2010 to 2012 Sunday nights at Pacha belonged to Lucien Luciano and his Cadenza tribe.

Luciano was one of an exodus of stars, following the departure of programmer Danny Whittle in winter 2012. The truth is, there will always be an affinity between Pacha and Luciano. It came as no surprise when Vagabundos returned for a brief spell in 2016. The magic was still there.

This three and a half hour homecoming set features music from Pete Heller, Frankie Knuckles and Four Tet. The energy on the dancefloor speaks for itself.

The Masquerade | 14 May 2022

Claptone is not merely a resident DJ, but a host who beguiles and entertains in equal measure. Everything is done for dramatic effect: the casting of dancers, the mould of chandelier and the subliminal messages lurking in the shadows behind every corner.

Elusive as ever, Claptone is the master manipulator, using the power of suggestion to seduce your ears and prick your senses.

The Masquerade was such a success in its debut year, that the next season it was upgraded to the coveted Saturday night slot. At Pacha, you can't get more glitzy, so the Venetian masked ball theme and the gorgeous, monied crowd work incredible well together.

At last year's opening party, two-years in the making, Claptone captivated with music from Oden & Fatzo, Basement Jaxx, BLOND:ISH and Dua Lipa.

The future

There's no two ways about it, 2023 is going to be dynamite for Pacha. We get the landmark celebrations underway at Pacha's Grand Opening Party, once more with Solomun, on Friday 28 April.

Marco Carola's Music On reclaims Fridays, while Claptone's The Masquerade doesn't let slip of Saturday nights. Bedouin keep Wednesdays with Saga and Robin Schulz stakes his claim for Thursdays all summer long with Pure Pacha.

Beloved hippy staple Flower Power is back on Mondays. There's also a series of early-season dates, including a keinemusik all night long on 21 May ahead of another Solomun +1 campaign.

The big new arrival is Platinum-selling duo CAMELPHAT who have 19 Tuesdays night, apart from 1 August which is underwraps for the time-being. Bank on something spectacular though.

Plus, as ever, you can experience that world renowned Pacha service at Destino and Lío.

With Pacha Group syncing openings of new Líos in London, Mallorca and Dubai in the last month, it's an exciting time as it seeks new investors. Throw in the forthcoming opening of Formentera club Pachacha (ex-tipic.) and Pacha is blowing the roof off its 50th year.
