Ibiza Fiesta: San Jorge 2010

The burgeoning Ibiza village of San Jorge (Sant Jordi in Catalan) celebrates the dragon slaying feats of its Patron Saint

The burgeoning Ibiza village of San Jorge (Sant Jordi in Catalan) celebrates the dragon slaying feats of its Patron Saint (St. George in English) with a giant fiesta stretching from 5th April until 23rd May! The day itself, 23rd April, is traditionally celebrated by giving the gift of a book to a man and a red rose to a woman. Spookily, both Shakespeare and Cervantes both died on April 23rd 1616, and it has now been declared International Day of the Book by UNESCO.
