Party preview | Ushuaïa Ibiza's Opening Party

Sunday 26 April.

About Ushuaïa Ibiza's Opening Party

Sticking with its tradition of opening all of its venues on the same weekend and going around the clock an almost continuous 36 hours, the middle leg sees Ushuaïa Ibiza passed the baton almost immediately from neighbouring Hï Ibiza for its own Opening Party.

Combining blockbuster names with its established residents, operator The Night League (TNL) starts as it means to carry on the rest of summer: with the most stacked line-ups, the most awe-inspiring production and the biggest, wildest crowds.

When?

13:00 - 23:00 on Sunday 26 April

(but starting on the opposite side of the road at sister-club Hï Ibiza from 23:00 the night before, and then continuing at UNVRS immediately afterwards)

Where?

Ushuaïa Ibiza
Ctra. de Platja d'en Bossa, 10, Sant Jordi de ses Salines, 07817 Open in Google Maps

Designed for tourists, Playa d'en Bossa is a seasonal resort on the east coast.

Thanks to its generous stretch of beach (Ibiza's longest) and close proximity to all three of the airport, Ibiza Town and the island's largest concentration of clubs, holidaymakers from Britain, Italy and Spain all gravitate here.

Both the beachfront and the main drag are lined with bars, but in all honesty, the clubs are that alluring you might as well skip any prelude and report straight to the dancefloor.

You can catch the L3B disco bus from San Antonio or the regular L14 line from Ibiza Town. There's a taxi rank opposite the club outside Hï Ibiza and several more further up the road.

Who?

Ushuaïa has flipped the script this year. Not only has its curtain-raiser moved from its traditional Saturday berth to Sunday, the music policy has also been shaken-up. Afro and Latin House is now the order of the day to really intensify the heat of the sun on your face.

Hï Ibiza residents Francis Mercier and MESTIZA make the short journey across the road. Both were recently the subject of our boundary-pushing acts feature, so are sure to bring a show to the festival-sized stage.

A third Hï Ibiza resident, HUGEL, is also playing. He supported David Guetta at Ushuaïa last year. This gives a nice early preview of his forthcoming Make The Girls Dance double-header, which takes place in late June.

These three are bolstered by DJ mercenaries MoBlack, Kaz James and Pauza.

What?

Simply put, the second part of a near 36-hour triple-header that has assembled the biggest DJs at the operator's disposal and spread them across multiple dancefloors, over the three venues in the TNL portfolio.

Why?

Five good reasons to go:

  • Afro and Latin House outdoors in the sunshine - just as the electronic music gods intended
  • first chance see HUGEL (pictured below) in action at Ushuaïa before his Make The Girls Dance double-header in June
  • Ushuaïa goes all out for the occasion: streamers, CO2, pyrotechnics - the full monty
  • potential to party around the clock, from 23:00 Saturday night (at Hï Ibiza) to midday Monday (at UNVRS) - do you have the minerals to last the distance?
  • it'd be plain unthinkable to be on the island on this date and not be there, 'duh!

Also worth knowing
It's been several years since we can recall Ushuaïa's Opening Party being this economically-friendly - especially less than a month until showtime! Take advantage and secure those mega-value first release tickets whilst they are still available. Future tiers will be more expensive.

Top tip: If you roll straight through from Ushuaïa to [UNVRS], then you have our utmost respect, but a bit of savviness might serve you better in the long run. Take the intermission to pop back to your hotel, freshen up, get a bite to eat and maybe sink some cheap drinks.

Dare we say, have a quick disco nap? It's a marathon, not a sprint. You'll want to be there when it ends, so don't crash and burn prematurely.
