Clubber's guide to Playa d'en Bossa, Ibiza

Everything you need to know about one of Ibiza's most buzzing clubbing resorts.

While some may prefer to hide out in the secluded Ibiza hills, many holidaymakers cannot resist the temptation of a party (or 20) on their doorstep. Few places in the world offer more bars, beach clubs, eateries for every taste and superclubs within a two-mile radius than Playa d'en Bossa. Many of these double or triple up as multiple-purpose venues. On top of that, it boasts the longest stretch of sand on the island, too!

Hardly surprising, then, that Playa d'en Bossa is the main island destination for party-going tourists of all ages. If you are looking for a holiday with round-the-clock action, Playa d'en Bossa caters for just about every possible type of evening out. In addition to this, it is only five minutes away from the airport, where you will be dragged home kicking and screaming.

Beach clubs and beach bars

Easily one of the most amazing parts of a summer holiday is spending time at the beach. No one can say for sure what it is, but there is something magical about lounging on oversized comfy sunbeds, dancing barefoot on the sand to the best tunes and dining with a sea view, the gentle breeze caressing your hair. Playa d'en Bossa satisfies every whim in this respect.

Lined with choices, Playa d'en Bossa caters to every taste and budget. At the many beach clubs, you can just as easily sip on a smoothie as enjoy a full-blown caviar, oysters and champagne meal on your Balinese sunbed. Many of them are exclusive restaurants and most throw beach parties so you can let loose dancing on the beach. Particularly at the beginning and end of the season, these parties are even bigger.

While many of the beach clubs can get quite expensive, they are also the perfect way to spoil yourself while on holiday. You can pamper yourself with delicious food served directly at your sunbed, original shopping from the various boutiques, your favourite style of massage or other beauty treatments and much, much more.

Nassau Beach Club and its sister venue Tanit Beach Club both offer delectable food with various shows and an exclusive ambience. Gorgeous Santos Ibiza Coast Club provides a sun worshipper's dream by day and a range of parties by night. Bali Beach Club is a modern sea-side hangout offering fresh, local produce for delicious breakfasts, snacks and lunches.

Ushuaïa Beach Club at Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel serves a tantalising fusion of Mediterranean and Asian flavours, as well as an extensive bar. At the famous Beachouse, you will get an Italian influenced menu, a juice bar, beauty and relaxation treatments and even a children's area.

The new Magick Bar, which has quickly caught the attention of both islanders and tourists, and the established White are also well-worth a visit and at the very end of Playa d'en Bossa, the famous Coco Beach Club caters to a mainly German crowd.

In the centre of Playa d'en Bossa you will also find the infamous Bora Bora Beach Club. It is free to get in and has multiple areas including a new pool one and an inside club room where the party continues after midnight. Its relaxed but vibrant atmosphere has made it the perfect pre-party and after-party destination… officially and unofficially!

Tiare Ibiza is a beach bar right in the Ibiza Jet Apartments, many clubbers' first choice of accommodation in Playa d'en Bossa. Here you can dance in and around the pool right by the beach surrounded by palm trees.

How to get there

Playa d'en Bossa is only five to 10 minutes from Ibiza Town by car. Parking is not a problem at all since Playa d'en Bossa has a large public car park in the middle, which is free of cost. If you feel like some exercise, it's a 40-minute walk from the centre of Ibiza Town, and only 20 minutes by foot from the beach suburb Figueretas.

Playa d'en Bossa has excellent bus connections with Ibiza Town and other major resorts. Regular buses connect Ibiza Town to PdB before continuing on to the popular beach of Las Salinas. The disco bus also has Playa d'en Bossa on its route, running every half hour and stopping outside the bars and superclubs. The colourful disco buses blast loud music while chauffeuring you throughout the whole night to all the major clubs like Pacha, Amnesia and Privilege, as well as to Ibiza Town and San Antonio – a great way to move around the island and to get to know other clubbers.

From the jetty at the far north end of Playa d'en Bossa near the Hotel Tres Carabelas, small ferries also go to the port area in the centre of Ibiza Town. This is a beautiful ride along the coastline with a stop in the neighbouring resort of Figueretas and great views of the citadel.

Taxis are another option, especially when travelling in a group. Taxi fares are very affordable. In high season, though, it can be difficult to get a taxi, so be prepared to wait a while at the taxi ranks.

A big advantage of Playa d'en Bossa is also that the airport is only 5 km, it is easily reached in only 10 minutes by bus or taxi.
