From one-armed Black Coffee to production maverick Eric Prydz, Hï Ibiza has not been short on innovators since its launch in 2017. Not only has operator The Night League (TNL) sought to tie down the planet's biggest DJs as residents, but also those who broke the mould.
Each year, there are some new additions to the line-up. Whilst this current season may see the introduction of several new faces in the biggest shake-up to the programme in the post-pandemic era, the requirement for them to work in their own niche is still very much alive.
We're putting three of its current roster under the spotlight and examining why each of them go above and beyond the widely accepted remit of DJing. Francis Mercier, James Hype and MESTIZA are Hï Ibiza talents set to push boundaries this summer.

Francis Mercier
Solèy
Mondays, 1 June to 5 October
There's no disputing the rise of Afro House over the past decade. The genre has risen from the shadows to become a legitimate force on the world stage. While acts like Black Coffee and KEINEMUSIK have become household names, they're only the tip of the iceberg.
Another making a name for himself is Hï Ibiza's new Monday night host, Francis Mercier.
After a short run at Chinois Ibiza last year, TNL had seen enough to make a move. Now the Haitian natural-born entertainer is set to bring his self-styled Creole DJing to an exciting 19-week residency called Solèy (which means "sun" in his native tongue).
Last winter, Francis Mercier took Solèy to TNL's Middle-East operation, Ushuaïa Dubai Harbour Experience. While our host takes centre stage and DJs, he is accompanied by live musicians - both a percussionist and a guitar player - as well as podium dancers.
The result, as you can see from the video above, is a rip-roaring feast for the senses that creates such infectious energy that the audience feels part of the performance. We saw this in Ibiza Marina last year, but now, upscaled to the size and production capabilities of The Theatre, it can really become something that attendees talk about long after they have left the island.

James Hype
Our House
Wednesdays, 27 May to 30 September
From Liverpool to the world, James Hype isn't your average DJ. He's a one-man dancefloor demolition crew. High-energy House, clever bootlegs and enough technical wizardry on any piece of DJ kit to make any rookie sweat. James makes the near impossible seem like light work.
James spent his formative years messing around with CDs he nabbed off his dad, bringing tape recorders into school and getting suspended as a result. Even back then, he never fit into a pre-defined box. The only difference is that today, he makes no apologies for being different.
Not only has he built a name for himself as one of the UK's most influential DJs, but he's also just as much of a demon in the studio. Tracks like Ferrari, More Than Friends, and his recent release Be Mine keep dancefloors bouncing all over the world - and most certainly at Hï Ibiza.
Essentially, he's the DJ version of a Swiss army knife - adaptable, multi-faceted and leaves you guessing as to what else he's got in his locker.
With a knack for getting crowds moving, James Hype owns the decks with a one-of-a-kind energy that makes him impossible to ignore. He's one of those DJs you don't just go to listen to, but go to watch. Which is why his A/V lightshow SYNC will prove such a hit this summer.

MESTIZA
Sundays, 31 May to 4 October
Spanish duo MESTIZA occupy a legitimately singular space in contemporary dance music. By fusing flamenco and electronic music together, they have managed to create a signature sound that blends Spanish folk with modern club music.
On paper, the idea is pretty simple. So simple, it's a wonder how nobody thought to merge these two worlds sooner.
What further sets MESTIZA apart is the conceptual approach they bring to their artistry. The aesthetic that surrounds them, from their twin costume to their trademark stoicism, is a deliberate artistic statement.

Each performance extends beyond the music alone - it is an exploration of identity and self-expression.
Last year, Belah and Pitty also caused a scene, making a very grand entrance accompanied by white-robed choir singers. It was just another extravagant touch to remind everybody that MESTIZA enjoy stealing the limelight.
Expect similar not-so-humble theatrics this time around. While MESTIZA are not short on fans amongst their own nationality, we recommend everybody from everywhere else to give them a try this summer.
This just scratches the surface. All of Hï Ibiza's residents are there on merit, and that's before we take into consideration the big guest DJ bookings that will litter its programme.
Tickets and line-ups for all of the above and everything else going on can be found on our definitive party calendar.
