Staring skyward at sunset is a pretty typical sight on Ibiza between May and October, especially along the island's west coast. Astronomical events on Wednesday 12 August mean more people than usual will be tilting their heads upward on that particular date.
The total solar eclipse has caught the imagination of tourists and residents alike.
The first one since summer 1999 is set to be one of the busiest in history.
Naturally, many of the island's clubs and parties have synced their calendar to put on extra special editions. If you seek to be in the middle of the dancefloor when the natural phenomenon takes place, here's a round-up of everything happening before, during and after.
Feels Like Eclipse Festival
16:00 - 23:59, S'Arenal beach, San Antonio
San Antonio has been graced with many great beach parties in the last few years - many of them free. This one is ticketed, but given the size and stature of the line-up, we still make it worth every cent. Jamie Jones, Franky Rizardo and Miguelle & Tons will play the main beach in the centre of town for a party that is going to go down in the history books. Tech House heaven.
Mark our words, Feels Like Eclipse Festival will sell out, so we suggest you book your tickets ASAP - if nothing else, but to beat the next price rise.

Pukka Up presents ECLIPSE: The Day The Sun Sets Twice
18:00 - 21:00, Es Vedrà (departing from San Antonio)
Newly announced, seasoned boat party specialist Pukka Up is throwing a one-off extravaganza with arguably the best view of the whole island. That's because ECLIPSE: The Day The Sun Sets Twice will glide to and drop anchor alongside the mystical rock formation of Es Vedrà.
Pretty damn iconic. The three-hour boat party departs at 18:00 from the centre of San Antonio, with a pre-party from 16:00 and including a welcome drink upon boarding.
Final release is as much as €95, so if the price you see below is lower, that means you still have time to pick up a bargain.
DJ Harvey presents Phoenix Rising | 528 Ibiza
18:00 - 04:00, Benimussa Hills (near San Antonio)
Making his one-and-only advertised appearance of the entire summer, DJ Harvey presents Phoenix Rising as part of an extended programme of Pikes Presents. To add further prestige to proceedings, our host will play all day long, open to close.
Anybody who came to Harvey's date at 528 Ibiza last year will tell you attendance is essential. Plus, the eclipse is going to look pretty spectacular from the hillside viewpoint amongst the pines, especially from the hospitality terrace - available as a premium VIP ticket option.
We make this muso's choice with the coolest cat in town, bar none.

Woomoon 10th Anniversary | Cova Santa
18:00 - 05:00, San José
Of all the promoters on the island, none hold such a dear obsession with satellites in the night sky than Woomoon.
Switching from its regular Friday berth to an extra midweek date especially for the occasion, lunar worshipper Woomoon gets to fawn over a second celestial object to neatly tie in with its tenth anniversary.
It has gone big on a headliner, with the one and only Sven Väth leading the charge to the eclipse.

Namaste | Las Dalias
19:00 - 05:00, San Carlos (near Santa Eulalia)
At hippy hangout Las Dalias, one of Ibiza's longest-running parties promises an evening of vibrant colour, worldly music and community ethos. Namaste is a certified island institution and well worth the journey north on a normal week - let alone for the eclipse.
Namaste is also one of the few parties that admits under-18s (when accompanied by a responsible adult), meaning the whole family can enjoy this market-adjacent fiesta.
Make sure you visit the Pachamama stage with the fire-pit and seating cushions - pure authentic Ibiza with music that ranges from Spanish Rock to mind-bending Psytrance. Footwear optional.
elrow Outdoors | Ushuaïa Ibiza
17:00 - 23:00, Playa d'en Bossa
The sky above Ushuaïa will darken on 12 August. Due to the eclipse, sure, but also because the air will be filled with a cyclone of confetti! Whilst not being billed as an eclipse special per se, the magic of elrow will sweep attendees off their feet with its collective imagination.
The theme is Hallucinarium by visual artists Alex & Allyson Grey. Expect wacky peripheral entertainment from the elrow animation team, giant puppetry and character costumes galore, plus top-drawer music from a second husband-and-wife duo, Paco Osuna and Melanie Ribbe.
True, how much of the eclipse you'll be able to see from here is likely to be minimal, but you're unlikely to care too much, given everything else going on around you.

Sunwaves Ibiza | Bora Bora & Playa Soleil
16:00 - 06:00, Playa d'en Bossa
Sunwaves has built its reputation by throwing multi-day festivals on some of the most exclusive beach locations in Europe. This year, it finally bit the Ibiza bullet and flew into the remodelled Bora Bora for a series of day-to-night parties featuring its crop of Romanian underground talent.
Due to the position of the courtyard and it being flanked by multiple accommodation blocks, eclipse visibility is likely to be slim, but if you really dig deep, rolling Ro-Minimal, we guess you'll be just as happy either way.

Those taking place closest to the west coast and in the south of the island will have the best, least interrupted views. Visibility is subject to height above sea level, but will generally diminish the further east/north you are positioned.
