Last year, Sunwaves announced it was leaving its birth nation Romania after 18 years of being instrumental in raising the country's profile on the global electronic music stage, alluding to external pressures. It sent shockwaves through its die-hard fanbase. But in adversity, also lies opportunity...
In addition to relocating its flagship festival to Golden Sands in Bulgaria, Sunwaves embarks on an exciting new residency on Ibiza in 2026, building on its club editions in Barcelona, Madrid and London. It's home for summer is another patch of golden sand: Playa d'en Bossa, as it sets up shop at Playa Soleil on Wednesdays.
Placing its loyal community at the centre of all its endeavours, the Sunwaves brand is a label of authenticity that guarantees a very distinct musical identity, exceptional sound quality and unrivalled clubbing making it truly one-of-a-kind.
To finally bring Sunwaves to Ibiza's shores, next to the Mediterranean is the next step on the journey for this cherished event, that refuses to compromise on the principles which have served it so well.
DJs confirmed include (A-Z) Dan Andrei, Mandoiu, Marco Faraone, Persic and Rhadoo, with many more names TBA.
Sunwaves opens on 17 June and takes weekly up to 19 August, before pausing for its festival in the south of Spain. Afterwards, it reconvenes on 16 and 30 September with a closing party set for 7 October.
