Things to do this month in Ibiza - October 2016

Our choice picks

With everything from the last club closings to traditional folk dance to art and music concerts, October is looking pretty full of some super cool things to enjoy. Take a look at our selection of things to do and remember that our daily What's On calendar gives you many more.

Rocking Las Dalias

Make your way to Las Dalias for the last concert of the 2016 season on 12 October. The gig is headlined by Argentine rock outfit, La Bersuit, who will be covering hits from the group's 30-year-long career. They are rated as one of the top five bands in Argentina and have influences of tango, chacarera as well as punk, reggae and more in their music. The event will be closed down by DJs Paino and Gonza Polítyco to finish the night with some waving hands- time to get that ticket.

The party ain't over yet

While we shed a tear for the closing of Space, we at least have the rest of the club closings to look forward to over the coming weeks. This Monday 10 October at DC-10, Circoloco will be smashing it with a top line-up of DJ regulars including Seth Troxler, The Martinez Brothers and Black Coffee. Pacha has just added an entire set of new parties next week from 11 October, plus their deliciously-styled venue, Destino, is host to Guy Gerber's RUMORS closing on the 16 October. Check out our Party Calendar to get the full story of what's still to come this season.

Halloween Ibiza style

Halloween is big news on Ibiza - everyone digs out the fake blood and fangs for a ghoulish night out on 31 October. Standout events you should get in your dark and dreary diary include Pikes, which will be hosting its own annual homage to the macabre, or head over to HEART for a bit of sonic sorcery from the OpenLab guys from 1am to dawn. Then there's the Bambuddha Halloween Dinner party with full details still to be announced. So, scare up your spookiest outfits for a spine-chilling Ibiza night out.

Light me up honey

Imagine some of Ibiza Town's landmark buildings and statues and re-imagined. Well you can as the first ever Ibiza Light Festival hits the marina on 14-15 October. On both nights you'll see the streets and squares transformed with imaginative LED lighting plus there will be art installations and performance art on both days from 8pm to midnight. Light up your life.

Fiesta, fiesta!

A fiesta on Ibiza is never far around the corner. This month it's the turn of San Rafael which sweeps in with a month-long set of events of music, traditional folk and sport, kicking off this Saturday 8 October with a tennis tournament. The patron saint's day is the big day on the 24th with an evening rock concert starting at 8pm. See our What's on in Ibiza calendar for more daily events - it's a great place to start.

Lio Malco awards exhibit at Pacha Hotel

Art is big on Ibiza, with new galleries opening all the time. Lio Malca, who created the big exhibition space, La Nave on the island wants to support all the local talent here and in Formentera and has created a new art award in his name. You can see the 10 finalists' works at the chi chi Pacha Hotel until 14 October with a mix of paintings, sculpture, photography and installations. It's free to attend and you can treat yourself to a glass of cava in the bar aftwards.
