3 of the best nudist beaches on Ibiza

Where to hang out....

Popular with locals: Aguas Blancas

Aguas Blancas is a beach in the northeast of the island and is popular with locals and nudists. Due to it´s location on the northeast coast, Aguas Blancas is one of the best places to watch the sunrise.

The beach is protected by cliffs, which apart from offering shade and protection from the wind, have an additional perk. The earth on the cliff walls is used as a natural beauty treatment for the whole body. Moisten some of the red earth, rub it on your body and let it dry before washing it off in the sea. If you don't fancy it yourself, now you will know why there are people walking around covered in mud.

Aguas blancas means white waters and it is this crystal clear water that makes it a fantastic place for snorkeling. There is a lot of fish life visible in the sea due to some large rocks in shallow warm waters.

Getting there: From the famous Anita´s bar in San Carlos, take a left and follow the road up the hill. Take the first left. You will start to see the signs for the beach. It is a 10 minute drive from San Carlos.

Food and Drink: Restaurante Cima del Mar has a reasonably priced family friendly menu. The restaurant has been established for decades and is run by a local family. They will welcome you equally for a morning coffee or an evening cocktail. They suggested it is best to make a reservation for dinner.

Off the beaten track: Es Trucadors

Formentera has many nudist beaches. Although the official nudist beach is the 5km sandy Platia de Llevant, Es Trucadors also offer a place where naturism is the norm. Es Trucadors is at the northern tip of Formentera and is the perfect beach for those who want to get away from the crowds. As access is only by foot or sea, some people swim to Es Trucadors in the shallow waters from Espalmadar. Espalmadar is a private island with an old defence tower, natural coves, white beaches and sulphurous mud baths.

Getting there: There are many different options to arrive on Formentera. Book the car ferry in advance if you want to take your car. If you are going as a foot passenger, try the Aquabus for low cost regular journeys. For those who would like to arrive in style, the best way to do this is to book a yacht for the day.

Food and Drink: As Es Trucadors is off the beaten track it may be best to take a picnic.

Party vibe: Es Cavallet

Es Cavallet is one of the official nudist beaches on the island. It is in the south of Ibiza and has the spectacular Dalt Villa on the left and views of Formentera on the right. Es Cavallet is definitely somewhere special. The long white sandy beach is backed by sand dunes. The main nudist area is in the middle of the beach, and it is a pleasant walk from one end of the beach to the other. Es Cavallet is popular with tourists due to its proximity to Ibiza town, and has an energetic party vibe in the summer.

Getting there: Es Cavallet is easily accessible and only a 10 minute drive from Ibiza town. Parking is challenging. In peak season it may be easier to take a taxi or use public transport.

Food and Drink: El Chiringuito restaurant offers incredible food. They say the food is as locally sourced as possible, and when you see the fish dishes on offer, you won´t be able to argue.
