Fashion: Festival Fever

Feisty Fashion Editor, Leena Bhatti, turns her attention to Festival Fever

Festival Fever is upon us. For those of you flying over to catch Professor Green, Tinie Tempah or Chase and Status this month at Ibiza Rocks there is one only one thing you need NOT bring.

Wellington boots. Whilst I wish you every success in getting down and dirrrty. Wading through mud to get from one stage to another however is not how we roll here in the Balearic Islands.

Festival Fashion Ibiza style is thankfully less ubiquitous than a pair of denim cut-offs. In homage to the freedom loving hippy heritage of Ibiza, step away from the crowd and channel your inner Woodstock.

Festival fiend and ShopStyle marketing manager, Sian O'Flaherty, says “Festival season is always fun; it's a great excuse to really let loose and display your individuality."

Her key trends for Ibiza festival fashion are: 90's style crop tops and double denim, a head dress and perfect for the Balearic Islands, anything white. Worn with a glowing tan of course.

Still worried that if left to your own devices you may look like an extra from Austin Powers? Fear not, follow our Steamy Ibiza Festival Fashion guide and emerge victor not victim this summer.

Gentlemen first. (See image above for guidelines)
You're so hot right now. You may even get laid. With a garland of flowers in this bang on-trend Hawaiian shirt. Get your tribal on in this Skull and Native American print t-shirt. I know I stated denim shorts were a festival cliché. However, these dark indigo ones can take you easily from festival to after party. Complete the look with beads, a pair of quicksilver sunnies and of course a ruck- sack for your Ibiza overnight essentials. You never know where the festival will take you.

Expecting the unexpected is a common mantra in Ibiza. The key, according to Hayley Wheatley of luxury lounge and beachwear label Coco Riko, "...is to be happy with your beachwear, because it'll often have to carry you into the night." This fringed leather number is lust worthy. Wear if you dare with a bikini, cowboy boots and an Alice Springs statement necklace.

The right jewellery is worth its weight in gold. It has the power to transform an ok outfit into something spectacular. Add an opulent touch, Ibiza style, to your luxe festival fashion with this peacock feather bracelet.

Transforming fantasy into reality, this exquisite, exuberant handmade bolero from my favourite label Boutique Alter Ego is an Ibiza style essential. I'm ready to release my inner festival warrior in this. Don't even think about jumping in front of me in the beer tent. Oh actually wait. You're in Ibiza. No nasty smelly queues here. Just pure LOVE and eclectic festival frivolities. Yep, Ibiza rocks.
