Just imagine flying into Ibiza with 2000 of your mates and spending an entire fortnight dancing day and night to your favourite music.

Well that’s just happened with the start of the 9th annual Fleadh Ibiza when thousands of Irish visitors from all over the world gather at the giant Sea View complex in Port des Torrent to celebrate what they say is the best Irish dance festival in Europe.

To be sure there’ll be a great craic in PdT until May 1st as they’ve even brought their own bands, musicians and singers, so if you fancy a fling Riverdance style, just trip the light fantastic down to the Sea View.

For a taste of traditional folk dancing Spanish style, then head over to Santa Gertrudis next Sunday 30th April. Kicking off at 8 PM the villagers will have their own home team performing alongside two folk dancing groups from Almeria and Burgos. This festival is normally part of the village’s saint’s day celebrations in November but has been brought forward slightly in the hope that the weather will be better.
