Beaches along the Bay of San Antonio

San Antonio Bay, Ibiza. With five small beaches all within short walking distance, a stroll along the bay is a favourite way to start - or end - the day.

In the lovely wide Bay of San Antonio you're never far from a beach; five small ones are within short walking distance from either end. In fact a favourite way to start - or end - the day, is a stroll along the shoreline path connecting the beaches that all have bars open 'til late.

Each small beach has its own character and atmosphere, so you may like to try a couple of them before deciding which is your favourite.

From the Bay you can also take a ferry to one of the nearby beaches, such as Cala Conta or Cala Bassa. They depart hourly from many landing points along the bay and from San Antonio marina.

Es Puet beach (Es Pouet)

Location: In the Bay of San Antonio
Facilities: Promenade, sunbeds, parasols, showers, lifeguard, access for the disabled, bars, shops
Activities: Pedalos, water ski, banana boat, boat hire
Getting there: Walk along the promenade from San Antonio or along the road around the bay. Parking is non existent. From the jetty, small ferries connect to the beaches along the bay and farther beaches on the west coast such as Cala Tarida and Cala Conta.

As you walk around the bay from San Antonio the first small beach you come to is Es Puet. It's a sweep of fine golden sand and shallow water that is perfect for children to play safely in. Well served by three snack bars, and across the road you'll find a further selection of bars and shops. A ferry boat service operates to San Antonio and other beaches, or this is also a good place from which to rent your own boat with Star Boats and explore the bays at your own leisure.

The stylish Apartments Marina Playa right next to the beach are a popular choice for the sophisticated clubber. Non-hotel guests are also welcome to enjoy a tasty cocktail on the beautiful chill-out terrace, with regular DJ sessions and fantastic views of the famous Ibiza sunsets.

Tip: The small jetty by Es Puet snack bar is a great place from which to fish...or, if you prefer, to feed them bread!

Beach bars and restaurants:

The aforementioned snack bar, Es Pueto, is a great typically Spanish restaurant/beach bar on the jetty, very popular with good snacks and your typical bar food - and great location right on the jetty where there's always a nice breeze.

Playa S'Estanyol

Location: In the Bay of San Antonio
Facilities: Promenade, sunbeds, parasols, restaurant, bars
Activities: Pedalos, watersports, banana boat
Getting there: Walk along the promenade from San Antonio or along the road around the bay. Parking is non existent. Alternatively, you can catch the little ferries from the harbour of San Antonio.

Walking further round the small headland you'll find the two coves that make up the beach of S'Estanyol. Both have small sandy beaches leading to shallow waters and a good choice of watersports.

At the first beach there is the Mexican restaurant Sa Flama and on the smaller cove there's a beach bar often specialising in BBQs in the summer months. The latter beach has access to a restaurant and bar through a short alleyway. The ferry to San Antonio and other beaches can also be caught here from the small jetty.

A short walk further on brings you to another small beach which has a kiosk beach bar and a popular snack bar with a terrace overlooking the bay.

Playa Pinet

Location: In the Bay of San Antonio
Facilities: Promenade, sunbeds, parasols, restaurant, bar, supermarket
Activities: Pedalos, waterski, banana boat
Getting there: Walk along the promenade from San Antonio or along the road around the bay. Parking is non existent. You can also catch a ferry from San Antonio.

Playa Pinet is the next beach round the bay, with soft sands, shallow waters and a good choice of water sports.

Beach bars and restaurants:

There are a good beach restaurant and a bar. A small supermarket is easily reached in a side street running up from the beach.

Spotlight tip: Visit the Sol House of the renowned Melia hotel group - a clubber's paradise directly on the beach with daily pool parties and sunset DJ sessions.

Playa Xinxo (Playa Bella or Cala de Bou)

Location: In the Bay of San Antonio
Facilities: Promenade, sunbeds, parasols, showers, beachbars, shops, lifeguards, access for the disabled
Activities: Pedalos, electro boats, banana boat, jet ski
Getting there: Walk along the promenade from San Antonio or along the road around the bay, or catch a ferry from San Antonio.

Finally the last beach in the bay is Playa Xinxo but everyone knows it as Playa Bella beach, named after the apartment complex that overlooks it. It's a golden curve of sand which shelves gently in calm waters; great for the kids or lolling about on a lilo!

There is a small complex at the back of the beach with a range of shops and bars and on the beach is a small kiosko bar selling cool drinks.

And just around the corner there is another small beach with the famous Kumharas sunset bar and restaurant.

Spotlight tip: Brand new for 2018 you'll find the 4-star Paradiso Ibiza Art Hotel, a beautiful Art Deco hotel only for adults.

Playa Port d'es Torrent

Location: At the western end of the resort of San Antonio Bay
Facilities: Sunbeds, parasols, showers, toilets, beach restaurants and bars, lifeguards
Activities: Pedalos, banana boat, boat trips
Getting there: Reached by bus, or by driving about 5 minutes from San Antonio. There are good parking facilities for those coming by car. Little ferries connect to San Antonio and other beaches of the west coast.

After walking along the main street of San Antonio Bay away from San Antonio you finally reach Port d'es Torrent, a popular beach at the end of the resort. In fact, it does not really belong to the Bay of San Antonio itself, it is just around the corner, facing west.

The bay is a deep inlet into the coast, so the waters are tranquil and safe for swimming. The golden sand is fine grained and declines very gently into the sea, the water is crystal clear, perfect for diving and snorkelling. A few hotels border the beach, but also a pine wooded area and rocks for scrambling, which gives it a nice natural atmosphere.

A beach restaurant caters for all your needs, and right next to the beach is the Seaview Country Club hotel with a great water park, which is also open to non-hotel guests.
