[UNVRS] kingpin Carl Cox awarded coveted OBE in King's birthday honours list

The Sunday night host is recognised for his outstanding contribution to music.

Officially recognised by the realm for his outstanding contribution to music, Carl Cox has been awarded an OBE in King Charles' birthday honours list.

This news lands less than a fortnight before [UNVRS]'s Sunday night host begins his 16-week residency on 21 June.

Working tirelessly to advocate for club culture, Carl Cox has become a global ambassador and hugely influential figure, who uses his profile to push the movement forward. His status as one the world's leading DJs has made him a spokesperson for the industry.

Never afraid to start conversations on tricky subjects, Carl's voice carries weight like few others.

When he speaks, others take notice, whether inside or outside the industry. At the same time, he's gone to lengths to legitimise dance music as a force for good - both societally and economically.

Dance music is now discussed in rooms that previously would have been unthinkable.

Coxy said "I'm deeply honoured to be awarded an OBE. Music has been my life for as long as I can remember.

This recognition is not mine alone - it belongs to everyone who has been part of the journey. I've been fortunate to do what I love and to connect with so many amazing people through the power of music.

To the fans who have supported me throughout the years, the artists who have inspired and collaborated with me, the promoters, crews, and teams working tirelessly behind the scenes, my family, friends, and the wider electronic music community: thank you!

To receive this honour for doing something that has brought me so much joy is truly humbling. Oh yes, oh yes!"

Standing for Officer of the Order of the British Empire, an OBE is a prestigious rank in the UK honours system. Recipients are selected based on prominent national contributions in their field, including the arts, sciences, public services and charitable endeavours.

Running until 4 October, his self-named party starts this time next week, opening with an all night long set from the man himself.

Throughout the season, Carl will be joined by CAMELPHAT, Chris Stussy, Joseph Capriati, Loco Dice, Luciano, The Martinez Brothers, Richie Hawtin, Sasha & John Digweed and even David Guetta. You can find full listings below, along with tickets to every date.
