The period from 2020 onwards has marked one of the most significant turning points in Ibiza’s recent history. The COVID-19 pandemic brought the island’s nightlife to a sudden halt, with venues closed and the next two seasons effectively erased.
Like much of the industry, Ibiza Spotlight had to adapt quickly. During this difficult time, all ticket holders were refunded within seven days, a straightforward policy that helped maintain trust at a moment of widespread uncertainty.
Luckily, Ibiza Spotlight's loyal clients helped us to keep our heads above water - together, we were able to generate just enough income to survive the crisis. Meanwhile, we put maximum effort into keeping the island's tourism flame alive and promoting the joys of visiting these beautiful islands at such quiet times.
Forum communities also became unexpectedly active, with loyal users offering support and, in a touching gesture, even suggesting pre-purchases to help the platform through the disruption. It was a period defined less by scale and more by continuity and connection.

As restrictions were lifted, demand returned sharply. In 2022, as clubs reopened, there was a clear surge in appetite to return to the dancefloor after two years away.
From that point, the island guide became more streamlined and focused. Content was refined into a clearer format, prioritising usability and relevance over volume. Instead of hundreds of loosely connected articles, the focus shifted towards structured, up-to-date information and easier navigation.
Restaurant reviews and destination content also became an essential part of the offering, broadening coverage while remaining tightly curated.

At the same time, Ibiza Spotlight's Magazine continued to evolve into the central reference point for the island's nightlife, combining editorial coverage, event listings, interviews and recommendations in a way that reflected the increasingly fast-paced nature of the scene.
The platform's role in ticket sales also expanded significantly. As demand for Ibiza's clubbing returned, Ibiza Spotlight strengthened its position as the island's largest independent ticket seller, while our Party Calendar is the leading resouce for clubbers world-wide.
Our social media channels grew into an important extension of the brand, documenting Ibiza life and club culture across multiple platforms.

Looking back across five decades, one theme runs throughout: adaptation. From print publishing and the arrival of the internet to social media, the invention of smartphones, the disruption of the pandemic and as we enter the age of the AI revolution, each shift changed the way people discovered Ibiza and planned their holidays.
What has remained consistent is the purpose.
Whether through a printed guide, a desktop computer, a smartphone screen or a social media feed, the aim has always been the same: helping visitors make the most of their time on this magical island.
Fifty years on, the technology may be unrecognisable from the early days of Spotlight, but the passion at its heart remains the same.
