Weather, events and what to wear in Ibiza in December

Come and celebrate Christmas and greet the New Year in a lovely mild climate under a clear blue sky.

In December you can expect an abundance of lovely sunny days. Many restaurants are open up until the festive period and its entirely possible to have a special Christmas lunch outside on a sunny terraced dining area.

Daytime temperatures can still go up to 25 degrees Celsius in the sun and you might well enjoy beach walks in a short sleeved t-shirt. Even now around the winter solstice the sun still shines very forceful. On sunny days the sky is deep blue and all colours bristle in the clear light. There might be some rain or even a storm, but the clouds normally clear after two or three days.

There are direct flights from some cities in Northern Europe or you can come via Barcelona or Madrid with a short stopover. Several hotels and apartments are open all year round, from budget to more luxurious options.

Events

Although Christmas is a gentler affair in Ibiza, each town makes an effort and is bedecked with fabulous illuminations. There are several Christmas markets taking place around the island, some only for a day or two, others over the whole Christmas period, like the one in Ibiza Town and the one at Las Dalias. Furthermore, the towns and villages offer a full Christmas programme in the weeks before and during the festive period.

Find all Christmas markets and programmes as well as many other Christmas and other events in our events calendar. Special mention goes to the fun fair in Ibiza Town, a popular meeting point for young people and the whole family from end of November to mid January.

Some clubs open for New Year or have after parties in the days following. Our magazine will keep you properly informed with our regular New Year's parties' recommendations, usually published mid December. Check also our party calendar to see which clubs are open in December.
