Dating back to 1973, Es Canar True Hippie Market, located in the bustling resort of Es Caná (Es Canar in Catalan) near Santa Eulalia, is Ibiza’s original handicrafts market. Boasting over 450 stalls, it is a paradise for souvenir hunters, a fun spot for all the family and a mecca for those seeking to experience one of the last places on the island to conserve something of the spirit of Ibiza in its heyday.
At Es Canar True Hippie Market, there’s literally something for everyone. Whether it’s a simple, inexpensive souvenir, typical Ibizan products, designer fashion, jewellery and artwork, or recycled wares, you can find it here.
When it comes to entertainment, local musicians and bands, as well as international artists, play music from across the spectrum including Afro-Reggae, Spanish Rock and Flamenco, 70s and 80s hits, electronic and ethnic.
Performers in 70s outfits wander around and the market also has its own kids’ area, the “Hippie Kids” hut, where the little ones can take part in workshops on recycling, designing a T-shirt, face painting or making flower crowns.
Food and drink
Es Canar True Hippie Market offers visitors a wide range of food and drinks. From a proper sit-down midday meal to pizza, world food served up by food trucks, homemade pastries and ice cream, it caters to all tastes. When you get thirsty, there is everything from tea and coffee to soft drinks, beer, local liqueurs and cocktails.
