Calling Ibiza - Harlem Shake

Harlem Shake, a video craze is sweeping the World. Here on Ibiza, Jill Canney of FIX Ibiza, decided the island should get in on the act - but got more than she expected!

Harlem Shake is one of the latest and biggest crazes sweeping the World presently. YouTube abounds with videos of people in all sorts of attire and in varied locations 'shaking' to the music 'Harlem Shake' by Harry Rodrigues aka Baauer. Baauer has been making music since the age of thirteen, focusing strongly on house music.

Just a few short weeks ago, a group of teenagers in Australia, released a video of the 'Harlem Shake', after seeing comedy video blogger Filthy Franks version. The video by the teenagers, known as 'The Sunny Coast Skate' went viral and within days, thousands upon thousands of videos were being uploaded to YouTube.

Cue Ibiza and Jill Canney of FIX Ibiza. Sitting on her sofa just last Sunday, Jill decided Ibiza should be involved. After all, the island is renowned for it's house music and when it comes to getting involved in a party, Ibiza is the place to be. So Jill set up a Facebook event for friends and not dissimilar to the Harlem Shake videos on YouTube, the idea went viral on the island...

Instead of a few friends showing interest over 100 people have said yes to gathering this Friday (tomorrow) at Paseo Maritimo, with Dalt Vila in the background, and getting their Harlem Shake on, Ibiza Style.

Jill Canney and now with a team of other supporting organisers is hoping to have a video ready for release within hours of the event and featuring three key segments - see below for details and if you want to be involved (or perhaps just watch the mischief) pop down to Paseo Maritimo tomorrow, Friday 01st March at 4pm.

Harlem Shake, Ibiza Style Details:

"4pm, Friday 1st March: Meeting Point en situ, the park opposite the Casino de Ibiza, on the Paseo Maritimo de Ibiza.

For the first scene, lets call it ‘The solitary dancer surrounded by the Normal Normans', we will need around 25 volunteers to be dressed in their civvies.

For the second scene, 'Crowd goes Mental', we'll need everybody in the most weird and wonderful get up they can come up with. Also, bring some props. Jill Canney is looking to bring some props too...

We expect to have to do a couple of takes and want to be ready to kick off at 4.30 latest…please help us achieve that and lets have fun above all else."
