Legendary Detroit artist Moodymann opens Keep On Dancing's new party

The enigma steps out from the shadows at Teatro Pereyra on Saturday 13 June.

Nomadic Ibiza collective Keep On Dancing launches its new party El Baile Pop at Teatro Pereyra tomorrow, Saturday 13 June. To kick-off this new season, it has landed a pretty special guest for opening night: legendary Detroit artist Moodymann.

For anyone into House and Techno, Kenny Dixon Jr. needs little introduction. The decorated DJ and producer has spent more than thirty years carving out a sound that's impossible to pin down. He’s equally adept at turning to House, Techno, Funk, Soul and Jazz.

Moodymann also happens to be one of electronic music's most elusive characters. Rarely interviewed and shunning the spotlight to embrace an air of mystery, he’s never entertained playing the industry game. Moodymann has always preferred to let the music speak for itself.

That approach has only added to his legend. While plenty of DJs are constantly online and everywhere at once, Moodymann remains a genuine enigma.

Catching him behind the decks doesn't happen too often on Ibiza, with the DJ limiting his commitments to only a handful of dates each summer. This is exactly why his debut at one of the island's most historic buildings is a big deal.

The rest of the line-up is equally in tune with Keep On Dancing's ethos of putting musical quality first.

Long-time KOD favourite Nesta joins Andrea Fiorito and Janina for a back-to-back session packed with groove, soul and underground energy. Meanwhile, La Danceteria will host Radio Love, courtesy of Kieran Behan and Stikkio Sound.

As Teatro Pereyra continues on its evolution as a party destination, El Baile Pop looks set to bring the same music-first spirit that has defined Keep On Dancing for years. If there was ever a way to start a residency with a statement, booking Moodymann is it.
