Tales of the Unexpected comes back to Akasha with extended programme

Six dates with The Brothers Grim and high-calibre guests from April to October.

Tales of the Unexpected comes back to northern outpost Akasha with an extended programme for its second season at the intimate club.

In total, there are six dates from April to October, building on last year's four parties.

Taking place (almost) monthly, primarily on Fridays (and one Thursday), Tales of the Unexpected takes place on 17 April, 15 May, 5 June, 13 August, 4 September and 9 October.

Once again, bookers and residents, The Brothers Grim (Mark Broadbent and Andrew Livesey) have dipped into their contact book and put the call in to some high-calibre friends.

The series opens with an Akasha debut from Feel My Bicep contributor Hammer, alongside Mark and Andy's longtime collaborator Ryan O'Gorman. The always-great-value James Zabiela and his numerous tech toys return to Akasha to headline May's party.

For the June instalment, last year's OFF BRAND co-conspirator Man Power is recalled. Given that the Geordie community leader has recently announced a step back from DJing regularly, we are thrilled he has taken a booking here on the island, amongst his reduced schedule.

After skipping July, we get a curveball in August as scene-pillar Goldie flips the script and takes the story in a different direction. Electronica extraordinaries Maribou State land for one of their DJ sets to head up in September, before Heidi Lawden and Lovefingers combine at the closing.

Other artists popping up across the series include Andy Baxter, James Robinson, Jeremy Weeks, JR Hartley, Lex Wolf, Mandoiu, Mark System, Rosie, Sadeedo, Sharma & Spring, Sturge and Vision Of Light (live) with further names TBA.

As you can see, Mark and Andy call on friends and family from their extensive history and with a clear focus on musical depth. Tales of the Unexpected continues to carve out a reputation as one of the island's most considered underground parties: intimate, exciting and true to its name.

The result is a season that leans into unpredictability, while staying rooted in the Brothers' signature stamp of unwavering Balearic quality.

Five out of six start with the free pre-party in Las Dalias café from 20:00 (19:00 for opening and closing). August is the exception, which begins as soon as Akasha's doors open at 23:00.

Tickets for all dates are on sale now and available below or via our party calendar.
