Caught in the moment | Josh Baker & Rossi. at Amnesia

A snapshot from the Pyramid dancefloor on 8 June.

Sunday service has formally resumed for Amnesia's flagship underground gathering Pyramid, marking its formidable return with one of the most stacked opening line-ups we've seen this summer.

Revered for an unwavering commitment to no-nonsense House and Techno, the in-house production really threw all of its weight behind this one.

Nina Kraviz and Deborah De Luca led a ferocious Techno convoy in the Main Room, whilst Riccardo Villalobos back-to-back Raresh shared headline ranking in The Terrace.

However, in my opinion, it was the earlier partnership that reunited best buds Josh Baker b2b Rossi. that solidified opening night a resounding success.

In recent years, both Josh Baker and Rossi. have been on parallel career trajectories, from local underground DJs and bedroom producers, to two of the scene’s most in-demand names. Together, they wasted no time in asserting their authority with an endless flow of cool cuts.

Nesta’s fire track James Bande would be on repeat in our head for the next 48 hours, while Skream’s latest slammer Bass Tool was another sick pick. These guys know their shizz, which made choosing one defining moment from Sunday night even more difficult. But here goes.

I guess the epitome moment of a booth bromance is when you can perfectly drop in your own tracks and both get equal style cred from the crowd. DJ and producer flex, ticked in a oner!

Josh Baker cut in first with his sultry Deep-Tech record Misleading, and the mass of ravers retaliated by blaring out the lyrics in chorus and getting down and groovy to the rhythm of the drum machines.

Rossi. then seamlessly followed suit with the pumping bassline of his 2023 certified stomper U Won’t See Me. Fists launched into the air and hugs were shared behind the decks. I hadn’t heard this drop in a long time and forgot just what a bop it is.

Whilst the phrase “everyone’s a DJ these days” has been slanderously flung at the scene’s next-gen heroes, both Josh Baker and Rossi. prove they’re in this for the long haul time and time again. Just take a look at their respective impressive music catalogues and packed tour schedules.

These guys don’t follow the trends, they set them. And for that, they have our deepest respect.

As a sidenote, we can also confirm the welcome return of the CO2 cannon to the Terraza dancefloor.

Pyramid has now firmly set the standard for Sunday nights at Amnesia, with heavyweight names in House and Techno fully in tow. Josh Baker returns to the Terraza for Pyramid on 24 August. Meanwhile, Rossi. is back alongside Ricardo Villalobos and Raresh on 14 September.

You can find a full list of Josh's upcoming Ibiza dates here. For Rossi.'s, please head here.

Taking a peak at next week’s line-up, Vintage Culture, Hot Since 82 and Héctor Oaks are amongst the standouts. For tickets and full weekly line-ups, head below.
