After three hugely successful years at award-winning club Hï Ibiza, Paul Fisher, otherwise known as FISHER or simply "the Fish", received the call to take over its brand new sister club [UNVRS].
Just when you thought The Night League couldn’t outdo themselves, it pulls off something truly spectacular for the Aussie's superstar's big debut. My second visit to the club within first few days of opening, last Thursday saw FISHER's turn to pack the new mega space.
Swimming in the deep
Before Fish made his appearance at 03:00, we made the most of what the other rooms had to offer - and and it far surpassed anything we expected. Our first stop was The Bunker, the club’s somewhat mysterious 100-capacity room you can find hidden in the depths of the building.
We walked into Flash Ibiza mega-mind Guy Williams playing a mix of House, Disco and Funk all intertwined into one. It wasn't until then that I noticed on the wall the set times which showed that the Kitchen Kween was playing in the Wild Comet!

For those of you who don't know, Kitchen Kween is the DJ alias of FISHER's wife, Chloe, who I am somewhat of a super-fan of thanks to her Darling, Shine! podcast. With this info in hand, I grabbed co-clubber's hand and we practically skipped over to the toilet block.
Chloe Fisher was joined by a clan of Aussie DJ family friends, including Rich Penny, DJ Shimmy and Elroy for a four-way back-to-back. Further members of the family were also spotted getting on down. It looked like the whole gang had flown in to support the big night!
This really got the anticipation sky high. In the main room, another one of Fisher's besties was also on the decks. Little Fritter had the pleasure of warming up the huge space, before French ladies man HUGEL took to the stage.
HUGEL set the pace nicely with an extended set of Latin-infused House and Tech. Peppe Citarella's Tribute Mix of Te Boté had the already packed room in a frenzy. He continued dropping some unreleased heat, including his latest ID, Loosen Up.
Before we knew it, the moment everyone had been anticipating had finally arrived.
Flying Fish
At 02:55, HUGEL finished his set, and a hush fell over the crowd as the lights dimmed. For five suspenseful minutes, all eyes were on the stage, expecting Fish to emerge behind the decks at any second. But no, he had something entirely more outrageous in mind.
In typical, over-the-top FISHER fashion, he timed a surprise entrance and descended from high above like a disco Jesus, perfectly timed from ceiling to floor at the exact moment the drop hit on his track Ocean, one of his biggest releases from last year.

Naturally, phones flew up, jaws dropped and goosebumps hit hard.
What made it even more magical is the fact that no one saw it coming. The drama didn’t end there...Just when you thought it couldn’t get any more extra, a 60-foot version of FISHER’s face was plastered across the LED wall behind the booth.
His expressive poses rotated through a series of wild, ever-changing hairstyles and graphic effects and dominated the screen. Yep, he has hair now. Never afraid to send himself up, was this a sign that he'll be channelling some new up-do's over the summer? Is his iconic bucket hat here to stay? Maybe we’re witnessing the beginning of a new era for the artist?

The towering visuals took on a whole new level of production. It was part circus, part sci-fi fever dream. Honestly, if FISHER hadn’t been standing right in front of us, the screen version alone would’ve been enough to carry the show.
We all know FISHER loves to pull off something whacky, but is this the first time a DJ has practically abseiled down into his own set? We think so.
It wasn’t until days later that he revealed, via a BTS video from his sound check, that the ceiling descent was a spontaneous decision just hours before the show. The madman from Down Under strikes again! Encore in week two? We couldn't imagine otherwise.

As he embarks on this brand new residency, we are sure that there'll be plenty more surprises up his sleeve. FISHER doesn't do things by half-measures - it's either all or nothing, and what better space for him to do so, than the brand new [UNVRS]?
You can find tickets and line-ups for the rest of his summer below. Go hook a big one!
