Lissy Lü in real life | Pinballing from one opening to the next

Misadventures in clubland. 30 April to 4 May.

Top raver, booth infiltrator and our very own AM to PM girl, Lissy Lübeck is back on Ibiza for summer 2024, which means another weekly serving of misadventures in clubland. Here, Lissy shares her thoughts, experiences and inner musings direct from the dancefloor.

A year older, perhaps. But a year wiser? Nah.

If you heard it from anybody else, you'd dismiss it as hyperbole, but Lissy Lü's real life is like that... Partying as a profession is a hard life, but somebody's got to do it!

Pinballing from one opening to the next

30 April to 4 May

Tuesday

For sundown, I headed over to Wi-Ki-Woo where I met with Josh and Kaz - the pair that make up London-based DJ duo Late Replies, before their first gig of summer for Deeperfect at Eden.

I've built a super special friendship with them since winning their DJ competition to play for their Second Nature showcase at 93 Feet East in Shoreditch last winter. Not only am I obsessed with their sound, but they're lovely guys too.

After dinner, we headed over to Eden around midnight where Pete Tong DJ Academy award winner Alev Tav opened things up. The queue to get into the club was already huge and the dancefloor filled up within 30 minutes.

Eden Ibiza

Alev absolutely smashed it. I think I Shazam'ed the whole of her set! Late Replies followed, and again kept the vibrations high until it was the turn of the boss Stefano Noferini.

What a kick-start to the summer for Deeperfect. It's a brand whose music really resonate with me. I love playing it out during my own sets. If you're one for the deep and minimal groovers, this party is for you.

Wednesday

Pinch punch first the month! When May hits, you know summer has arrived.

Just a quick entry for today - silly Team Spotlight, we forgot that today was a public holiday in Spain, after we stupidly headed over to theHUB before realising it was in fact shut. However, we managed to find a great spot around the workers table back in San Antonio at Melbourne Street Coffee, where we were all treated to a yummy group breakfast.

Friday

Today we headed down to O Beach for its Opening Party. My flatmate Lucy Jane (the only female resident DJ at the joint) took centre stage whilst a fashion show from the day club's sponsor took place. It was already at full capacity at 15:00, just two hours after opening.

In true O Beach style, it wowed with spectacular production with new theme and show.

O Beach Opening Party

Giant glittery hotdogs flew down from above and wrestlers on a pimped-out mega truck rode through the crowds with neon orange flares and dancers in skimpy dresses. It was quite the spectacle.

I didn't know where to look. I had myself a full-frontal VIP view of every angle, and of course, the influencer table which was filled with stars of social media and reality television.

Saturday

Saturday, Lucy and I took a stroll around San Antonio. It turns out that not having a car is both a blessing and a curse, as I've definitely been getting my steps in this past week. This trek was made better at a stop off at my favourite ice cream spot, Milu. My mouth is salivating just writing this.

Later that evening, the clubbing team met in San Antonio for a quick briefing on the night ahead. All wearing our best all black attire, it was none other than the ANTS opening party - a double-header across both Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza.

The new stage took the party back to its minimalist roots with an impactful yet simple black design, after its extravagant ten year anniversary cake stage last year.

ANTS Day & Night | Ushuaïa

Wade, a special back-to-back from ANTS natives Andrea Oliva and Nic Fanciulli and a live closing set from Paul Kalkbrenner were all incredible. Again, the production reached new levels, with volcanic eruptions in the pool and morph-suited drones weaving in and out of the crowd.

The party continued over at Hï Ibiza from 23:00, where I met AJ Christou and the Mason Collective clan to walk in the crew entrance - and a crew it was indeed! Around 20 of us walked in together to witness AJ open up the Club Room, before Adam, Blair and Omar took control.

ANTS Day & Night | Hï Ibiza

Fleur Shore and Gordo were up next and the music was on point. I also got to catch up with a few friends, which made the night even better.

I ended up heading to the taxi rank at about 04:30. What a night!

Wi-Ki-Woo by Peter Young

Restaurant of the week

You know, it's not all glam and dining out seven days a week, as it may seem on Insta. I've been cooking for myself most nights in an effort to save money. However, the one time I did eat out this week, was somewhere I wouldn't normally pick, but Wi-Ki-Woo surpassed my expectations.

Whilst I indulged in one of their many choices of pizza, Josh and Kaz from Late Replies scraned two of their juicy burger options and even went in for seconds! The food was really tasty and good value for money. I'll confess, a few cocktails also got sunk during our stay.

Amnesia Opening Party

Yep, it's one we've all been waiting for!

After the Pyramid warm-up a fortnight ago, Amnesia opens its doors for summer 2024 with a mega line-up across both rooms. As always, the harder sounds of the underground take over the Main Room, and the best of House and Tech will flood the Terraza.

Whisper from the dancefloor

Since last summer's closing with Marco Carola and ANOTR, 528 Ibiza has kept disconcertingly quiet. But I've caught wind of a lovely rumour circulating that it could be ready to shout loud from the rooftop and open earlier than we think...

Tune of the week

Tom Nolan | Shaking Ground | Whippin Records | 3 May

From Marco Carola and PAWSA to Paco Osuna, Tom Nolan's tunes get played around the globe at the world's best clubs by the greats. It appears that this may be the year Tom Nolan breaks through. He's now making a name for himself behind the decks, as well as his productions.

After playing for Do Not Sleep and Kaluki at Cova Santa last year, he will be hosting a series of his Hourglass events on Ibiza this summer too. This is just the start for the rising star.
