Next generation DJs set to make an impact in Ibiza 2023

A fresh crop of talent ready to take their careers to the next level this summer and beyond.

Let's face it, Ibiza is not short on DJ talent. Your Marco Carolas, David Guettas, Joseph Capriatis and Calvin Harrises are all firmly embedded into the island's psyche. You will find plenty of column inches dedicated to their praise on this website and the internet in general.

But what about the next generation of DJ talent? Everybody has to start somewhere.

Did you know that Adam Beyer first got his opportunity playing for Mauro Picotto at his MEGANITE party? Or that Solomun started out as a relative unknown at Sankeys Ibiza for Diynamic Neon Nights? Look at them now.

With the season about to turn full tilt, we've compiled a short list of rising talent you should keep your eye on for Ibiza 2023 and beyond. These young, hungry DJs might not currently be on your radar, but we highly advise that they are.

Rio Tashan | Defected | Eden by Mario Pinta

Rio Tashan

Chip off the old block Rio Tashan has music flowing through his DNA.

Unlike his Junglist dad, Rio has taken the House music route. His passion, skills and just sheer likeability were noticed by Defected Records which took him on board its roster, while he also works as part of its A&R team.

Rio brings infectious energy and assured track selections to any setting. He made his White Isle debut only last year, joining Simon Dunmore and his close pals the Dunmore Brothers at Café Mambo.

This year is already proving quite a whirlwind for Rio. He's had career-making bookings on Creamfields South's main stage and played during the last season of events at the now-closed Printworks London. There he played back-to-back with fellow rising talent Paige Tomlinson.

Where we'd most like to see him play?
No need to speculate. After playing the opening party at the end of April, Rio is back for Defected at Eden a further five times this summer.

Remaining dates: 16 June, 14, 21 and 28 July and 22 September

Charlotte Ord

Charlotte Ord

Like many of her contemporaries, Charlotte Ord hates being pigeonholed and is ready to throw outdated attitudes of genre tags and gatekeeping into the recycle bin. Her sets regularly veer off into tangents of Baseline and Speed Garage, as well as Deep-Tech and Melodic Techno.

With friends in high places, she counts the likes of Darius Syrossian, Seb Zito and Jordan Peak as admirers of her talents. It's clear bigger things are destined.

Away from the decks, Charlotte is a programmer at Tank nightclub in her home city, handles bookings for Danza Events and runs her own, women-championing events series SWITCH:UP which holds parties at Leeds hangout Distrikt. She's also currently learning to produce.

Where we'd most like to see her play?
Somewhere like Octan's Basement (sadly closed for summer 2023) or NUI Ibiza with a killer sound system would be ideal for her sound.

Date/s: None... yet. It's only a matter of time.

Elliot Schooling & Liam Palmer from Appetite

Elliot Schooling & Liam Palmer from Appetite

Founders of London's hugely popular Appetite party, Essex duo Elliot Schooling and Liam Palmer went from small-time promoters to two of the most successful young entrepreneurs in the game within a couple of years.

Together, they have built a cult following of loyal Appetite fans who crave every edition of their parties. Whether it's a fabric takeover or their Appetite On The Farm festival, these events have a habit of selling out in super fast time. Their next power move seems right around the corner.

Coming soon is the Appetite record label, as well as Ibiza, rumoured to be next on the agenda for the brand. Last summer, Appetite so nearly got its often touted White Isle debut at an undisclosed venue, only for the plans to be nixed at the last minute.

We're still confident that the time will come. Stay patient, lads.

Where we'd most like to see them play?
DC10 was the obvious choice - and so it shall come to pass. They're on the roster for Solid Grooves in 2023.

Date/s: 7 September

Rendher

rendher

Barcelona-born and bred Rendher has been producing music since the tender age of 14 and DJing since 16.

He has released on some of electronic music's most prized labels, including elrow, Solid Grooves, Toolroom and Moan. Tracks on Tomango Records and Takes Notes have followed in the last twelve months.

Already jet-setting around the globe and playing some of the world's most famous nightclubs, he kicked off Ibiza 2023 at Eden with Italian label Deeperfect. More dates follow later this season, with two bookings for The Martinez Brothers and two at Amnesia for elrow.

This year is his time to shine.

Where we'd most like to see him play?
Being that he's Catalan, he pairs with Barcelona-based, Ibiza favourites elrow nicely.

Date/s: 22 July and 12 August (elrow, Amnesia), 4 July and 12 September (The Martinez Brothers, Hï Ibiza)
