Hotels, villas, restaurant reviews, clubbing news, things to do - it's all here, each week, every week, Summer Season 2013

The image above was snapped yesterday at Cala Conta. Whilst Europe screams 'Recession!', clever holiday-makers are turning to Ibiza as an established safe bet for a great break. Our tiny island, home to some of the Worlds top Super Clubs also sports gorgeous beaches, deep lush green valleys and caters for all tastes and interests.

Better still, it is but a quick hop, skip and a jump from most European airports (I remain wryly amused that I can travel from London to Ibiza faster than I can get from London to Manchester)

The locals have always extended the most extraordinary warmth of welcome to island visitors and this year is no different. If you're thinking of getting away, we're proud to be able to say "Come!" and be confident that you'll be amazed and delighted, not to mention refreshed and inspired.

Things to Do.

Exploring Ibiza - Santa Eulalia River Walk

Ibiza has always been about 'more'. As small as the island is, I am yet to meet anyone who thinks they know it completely. There is always more to discover - and indeed, share. This week, wanting to relax, to change pace and step, if only for a while, away from the beaches and clubs, we took a closer look at Santa Eulalia and the only river in the Balearics! It was a gorgeous way to just take stock and while away a few hours - and didn't cost a cent!

Psst ~ see our Hotel of the Week (below) , if the area appeals.

Opening of On The Rocks, Ibiza Town

This one is definitely causing some chatter... If you want a great night out, this is perhaps an opening not to miss!

Art Exhibition

Ibiza has always inspired the artistically inclined and we could potentially run an entire website solely covering this subject alone! Every once in a while a particular event catches our attention. The forthcoming Art & Design Ibiza Exhibition (opening tonight) has definitely done just that. With Patrice Aaftink (former Master of Law, now a Fine Artist, showcasing her 'Old Masters Now' in abstract 3D creations) and Jean Marc des Bouvrie (architect and designer, famed for his creations that surpass expectations in both fields) hosting this exhibition, it's sure to inspire.

Never miss a thing - to the best of my knowledge, we have the most comprehensive online island guide for events on the island. These events are for both islanders and visitors alike so please, feel most welcome to explore!

Restaurant of the Week

COMO Restaurant in Santa Gertrudis always impresses (we first explored the cuisine and ambience last year) and this year, it remains very comfortably on our 'Recommended' list. Organically sourced, fresh, exquisitely prepared food in a relaxed venue might do it - but check out what we think of the wine!

Villa of the Week

Fabulous spacious, typical Ibicencan finca, Can Marge is ideal for a group of friends or family, offering very private accommodation with all modern conveniences including Wi-Fi. The beautiful pool area includes an exterior kitchen & bbq. Situated in the idyllic north of Ibiza, it is still only 30 min by car from Ibiza Town. Some of the best beaches and both hippy markets are only a short drive away. It sleeps comfortably up to 10 people.

And now with a SPECIAL LAST MINUTE OFFER: from June 29 to July 13, only 486 euros per night /49 euros per person, with a minimum stay requirement of 5 nights.

Hotel of the Week

The Buenavista Hotel, Santa Eulalia, is in fact the second oldest hotel in Ibiza but it has recently been very tastefully renovated and is now very much a quality chill-out escape in Santa Eulalia with very modest prices. They have both classic double rooms and newly built "rural" rooms which are elegantly but traditionally furnished.

Fashion Tip of the Week

Leena Bhatti, our irrepressible, irreverent Fashion Editor mischievously observes this week:

"Running through duty free in 6 inch heels guarantees a great booty lift. Toppling over said booty however soon brings you back down to earth. Baggy joggers kind of man? Great if the only thing you want to pull is an excess baggage charge. Strike a balance between comfort and style when flying. Rock a sexy sandal to show off pedicured feet. Gentlemen you too! Arrive glowing, not a sweaty mess by wearing the most natural fibres next to your skin. A cotton vest followed by a cashmere jumper and jeans. Looking this chic you might just get an upgrade."

Clubbing News

Direct from Stivi, Ibiza Spotlights Head of Clubbing -

More opening parties! Both San Rafael clubs Privilege and Amnesia opened on the weekend and of course the clubbing team took part in the celebrations. Apart from the clubs, now also more and more promoter nights kick off their season. Favorite long time running nights like We Love... and Cocoon had amazing opening fiestas - and some after-hours, too. Check out the reviews - to say we had a great time would be an understatement.

Tips for the next few days? Trance fans head to the Cream Ibiza opening party tonight and to Armin van Buuren's A State Of Trance opening party on Monday. Underground house and techno freaks shouldn't miss the Music On opening party on Friday and Kehakuma on Saturday. And no one should miss We Love this Sunday - Disclosure to play live!"

For and on behalf of the team at Ibiza Spotlight, we wish you and yours a fantastic weekend!,

Cat Milton.
