After 12 years of waiting patiently since its inception, we finally got the call! Avant-garde restaurant Sublimotion updates its show every two years, and when an invite to check out the 2026 version lands, you simply do not refuse.

While the physical location in Playa d'en Bossa remains unchanged, the surrounding venue has undergone a major identity shift this year, in common with the Sublimotion experience. Moving away from the rock-and-roll aesthetic of its former Hard Rock branding, the property has reopened as BLESS Hotel Ibiza, transforming the space into a refined lifestyle enclave called The Site. It is a more chic, hedonistic brand of luxury that suits Sublimotion perfectly.

It would be unfair to spoil the surprise for anyone paying for this journey, but we hope to convey a little of the magic and wonder of Sublimotion here without doing so, while hopefully whetting your appetite.
Each journey kicks off at the nearby Tomorrowland bar, where the evening vibes are already starting to pop off. This brand-new partnership offers an informal chance to meet your fellow revellers before you are transported to and encapsulated within a futuristic studio built for just twelve diners. What follows is a three-hour cabaret for all five senses.

Throughout the show, the waiting staff undergo numerous costume changes, scene switches, and moving chairs designed to disorientate your sense of scale; there is a distinct element of theatrical deception. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, an extensive team is beavering away to control every single variable. Technicians manipulate the lighting, projections, humidity, aromas, and even confetti. Every new course feels like a magic illusion, transitioning from classic vaudeville to a futuristic dreamscape and even a ride on the Orient Express.

Yet, with at least two staff members buzzing around every diner, it turns out to be a much more sociable experience than you might imagine. As the wine flows, conversations and interactions with other diners arise spontaneously, without force. It’s genuinely engaging on all levels.

Amidst the digital wizardry, Chef Paco Roncero delivers an absolute masterclass in haute cuisine, integrating flavours from gastronomic cultures around the world. His culinary laboratory matches the technical scale beat for beat with a procession of incredibly complex dishes that demand total precision.

Course after course utilises an illuminated, magnetic table on which plates float and interact with the environment, or even descend from the ceiling above. A step up for 2026 is the integration of Meta Quest VR headsets. These mixed-reality sequences allow the culinary team to completely warp the scenery while you eat, blending physical food with mind-bending digital landscapes. Every sense is augmented, but the flavours are never compromised.

It is completely impossible to convey the entire experience in photos. You simply have to immerse yourself in it to feel the rhythm. As Roncero has explained, it is not only about the gastronomy; Sublimotion occupies a completely unique position, integrating almost every aspect of the leisure industry into a single room.

Yes, it remains the most expensive meal in Ibiza, and it is obviously not for everybody. If the price tag seems excessive to you, then this concept just isn't your bag.

But judging by the smiles on the faces of the bon vivants with deep pockets who joined us on this truly unique sensory journey, the 2026 chapter seemed to be worth every cent.
