Sunday night hostesses MESTIZA are known for their fusion of electronic music and traditional flamenco - as evidenced by their new album Spanish Chica. This weekend, they expand on this musical identity by inviting very special guests to join them in The Theatre.
Cultural icons Gipsy Kings by André Reyes are last minute additions to the line-up, performing live at Hï Ibiza on Sunday 14 June.
Although they have over four decades of activity under their belt, Gipsy Kings remain as popular as they ever have been. Their music has permeated pop culture, but is rooted in Catalan rumba with Cuban influence. Their origin story is just as interesting as the music they perform.
Like many Romani communities in Europe, Spanish gitanos had already endured hundreds of years of persecution. However, when General Franco won the Civil War, the brutality escalated. It resulted in a mass exodus of the people, known as La Retirada.
The Reyes family were amongst an estimated 500,000 political exiles who crossed the Pyrenees to seek refuge in France, eventually settling close to Cannes. It's here where The Gipsy Kings story really begins.
Alongside his sons, patriarch José Reyes is responsible for forming the first iteration of the band called Los Reyes. After his death, André assumed position as the head of the family and frontman, as they adopted the Gipsy Kings moniker to celebrate their roots and musical heritage.

Starting life as street buskers and wedding entertainers, it wasn't until the release and subsequent reception of their third album, 1987's self-titled Gipsy Kings, when the band started getting recognition on a larger scale.
The album's opening track, Bamboleo, brought the group into the public eye. Gipsy Kings later scored another global hit in the early '90s with Baila Me, while they also known for Spanish covers of Frank Sinatra's My Way, Bob Marley's One Love and Eagles' Hotel California.
Still adored in the Spanish-speaking world, Gipsy Kings' legacy endures to this present - and their music is still capable of getting even the most reluctant of dancers on their feet.
This Sunday, they join previously confirmed names Laolu, Les Castizos and Derun.

Next door in the Club Room, Psytechno lovers can feast over an equally gravitating bill.
Indira Paganotto presents ARTCORE matches Chris Liebing, Onyvaa and Anna Unusyan for a night of uncompromising beats.
Two very different sounds and audiences overall, but with Spanish appeal from top-to-bottom. The locals will be out in force for this one and, as some of you will already know, that guarantees top tier party vibes. Tickets for this and all remaining dates can be found below.
