Christmas in Ibiza carries a flavour and fragrance all its own: a warm, spicy aroma that returns to homes each year with the traditional salsa de Nadal (Christmas sauce) and bescuit.
For generations, these have been the centrepiece of the festive table, evoking memories of family gatherings. It is this deep, nostalgic tradition that the family-run Forn Can Bufí bakery continues to nurture, keeping alive the recipes that form the heart of the island’s gastronomic identity.

The delicate salsa de Nadal is one of Ibiza's oldest culinary treasures, prepared in the bakery’s Santa Gertrudis kitchen following a recipe passed down through the family. It combines premium almonds, spiced broth, honey and eggs, requiring hours of slow cooking to achieve its distinctive texture. Its perfect partner is the artisan sweet bread, bescuit. Both are now available across all ten Forn Can Bufí shops. This December, the bakery introduces ‘Sweet Fridays’, offering complimentary tastings of these festive essentials in selected locations.
As the new year dawns, the celebration continues with the roscón de Reyes. Forn Can Bufí prepares this Three Kings' classic using sourdough and the finest candied fruits, offering both traditional and filled versions with cream, truffle, or custard. Each contains the symbolic figurine and broad bean, upholding the season's characteristically playful nature. Roscones can be reserved ahead of their release in all shops from 4 January.
Through meticulous craft and cherished family recipes, Forn Can Bufí does more than bake: it preserves the authentic taste of an Ibiza Christmas, ensuring its sweetest traditions endure for generations to come.
