Thinking Cultura at TEDxIbiza 2026

Reconnecting identity, dialogue and collective change.

On Saturday, 14 March 2026, TEDxIbiza returns for its fourth edition with a renewed focus on the forces that shape how we live together. Under the theme 'Thinking Cultura', this year’s gathering positions culture not as backdrop, but as an active framework that informs identity, values and the ways communities respond to change.

The event takes place at the island's purpose-built conference centre, the Palacio de Congresos in Santa Eulalia, where a full day of talks and performances will explore how creativity and shared stories help reconnect public discourse with everyday experience.

As part of the global TEDx movement, TEDxIbiza platforms local and international voices across sectors such as art, technology, social impact and storytelling. The 2026 programme gathers artists, thinkers and cultural practitioners who treat culture as a dynamic force capable of shaping politics, collective behaviour and social transformation.

Among the speakers, Federico Buyolo, Director at Fundación Ortega-Marañón, examines culture as a living framework of ideas that defines each era while influencing contemporary Spain’s social and political landscape. Campaigner and storyteller Isobel Bruce explores how creative communication can reshape narratives around climate, gender and refugee rights. Actor and director Maggie Civantos, founder of MeP Lab, reflects on the intersection of artistic practice, psychology and collective experience, positioning culture as a source of healing and illumination.

Author and activist Joshua Coombes discusses how simple acts of kindness can evolve into cultural movements that rebuild empathy, while music and sustainability advocate Sophie Schnapp highlights how the creative industries can drive environmental responsibility. Her work will resonate with readers as it forms part of the EarthPercent climate initiative, whose launch we covered last year.

The pressing issue of water use on Ibiza forms the background against which Ibiza-based ecological activist Rafael Tur invites us to adopt a more thoughtful and collective approach to water as a shared cultural and environmental resource.

Across the day, speakers will address cultural memory, belonging, technological change and environmental responsibility. With popular culture evolving at speed, shaped largely by algorithm-led platforms, the programme asks how these shifts influence public life and the ways we relate.

In true TEDxIbiza fashion, live performances will provide the musical interludes to the talks. Ibizan guitarist and composer Toni Costa bridges classical sensibility and contemporary expression, weaving English, Spanish and Eivissenc into his compositions. Multi-instrumentalist Héctor Koa blends classical training with world instruments and electronic sound, while Isadora Mulvey layers ethereal vocals over downtempo landscapes to create an immersive sonic atmosphere.

The official AfterWords event begins at 19:00 at Amalurino, where guests can continue the conversation over a sharing menu.

TEDxIbiza is supported by Ibiza Tourist board, the Consell of Ibiza and partners, including Island Hospitality, Ayuntamiento de Santa Eulalia, L'Officiel, Puga Constructions, Terravita, Live Life Devotion and Blakstad Designs, who continue to support the platform as it develops as a space for cultural dialogue and collaboration.
