A brand new midweek residency from the Dutch hitmaker is on the horizon at Pacha Ibiza.

This summer, Pacha Ibiza welcomes a brand new Wednesday night residency from one of the most talked-about names in electronic music right now, Mau P.

Bringing his Baddest Behaviour party brand to the island for the very first time, the Dutch DJ/producer, born Maurits Jan Westveen, has seen a meteoric rise since his breakout hit, Drugs From Amsterdam, took the scene by storm in 2022.

Now, he’s stepping into the Ibiza spotlight (pardon the pun) with a nine-date residency that marks his first ever on the island.

Known for his no-nonsense approach to clubbing and a sound that effortlessly blends House and Techno, Mau P has quickly become both a fan favourite and a sought-after collaborator in the global dance scene.

Ahead of this highly anticipated residency, we sat down with the heartthrob to talk music, major collaborations, and what to expect from his Ibiza debut.

Congratulations on your debut Ibiza residency. What does it mean to you to bring Baddest Behaviour to Pacha, one of the most iconic clubs in the world?

"I'm super grateful that they even asked me to do anything here in the first place! Even one show would've been amazing, let alone do a whole residency.

I started Baddest Behaviour in the United States, where it's been very successful, but to now bring it to Europe and especially to Ibiza and Pacha is a really big honour."

What was it like playing at Pacha's Grand Opening Party alongside Solomun, somebody who knows the club like the back of his hand? He's also been a big supporter of yours. Has he offered any words of wisdom about doing a residency yourself?

"A little scary, but also just so much fun and a warm welcome. He's become like a dad to me, so for us to play together and control this room together was a really great feeling.

We basically set up the whole residency together, and he definitely helped with the line-up.

You know, I was a little scared at first because it's such big shoes to fill, but he told me 'Just do you, don't try to be like anyone else. At the end of the day, it's your residency and it's your vision, so just make it as authentic as possible and have fun!'"

You've described Baddest Behaviour as “a no-nonsense approach to club music”. What kind of atmosphere or vibe are you trying to create for partygoers each Wednesday?

"I'm trying to create an environment and aesthetic for people to forget about everything else that was going on before they stepped inside of Pacha. It's a place where you're supposed to dance and let go. Be surprised by what music is being played, and not put anything in a box."

At the warm-up date, you shared the booth with more Pacha icons in CAMELPHAT. Do you think your styles complemented each other? And how will you ensure that your party differs from theirs?

"I think our styles blended well together.

Actually only three years ago, I went to see them in Amsterdam where I live, and I brought a USB with new music that I made. I headed to their DJ booth to give it to them or their tour manager. Mike saw me with there with the USB and put it in his backpack. They had no idea who I was!

So, now to be here and to invite them to my own night and go back to back is really crazy."

You're joined by a very diverse line-up; Hot Since 82, The Blessed Madonna, LP Giobbi, and more. What was the vision behind the curation, and how involved were you in selecting the artists?

"I had a hotlist of artists I wanted, so it was pretty easy to curate because I go to so many parties it was like 'Who did I love?'.

One being Quest, who I met at Time Warp. He was just so nice and then I hit him up, like "Hey do you want to play my party?" It started just like that. So, you know the whole lineup to me is whoever I love basically.

I had a huge list at first, and Solomun helped me to make that list a little bit smaller."

You are being passed the baton from BLOND:ISH, who does early-season Wednesdays - and you'll both be making an appearance at each other’s party. Will you be keeping a close eye on Abracadabra to see how that plays out?

"Yeah. It's very interesting to see everyone else's night at Pacha, because like I told you before, I've been here so many times for Solomon, and also for BLOND:ISH. So it's cool to see how everyone else brings their own thing to Pacha.

It's good to see what the crowd is like, you know in the middle of Ibiza week."

Merther and Like I Like It show your range, from underground Tech vibes to vocal-driven anthems. Can fans expect this diversity to be reflected in your sets at Pacha?

"I think there's a lot of people that go to shows that want to hear their favourite song, so when I don't play On Again for example, a lot of people will be mad and I'll be getting DMs on Instagram, and I'll feel bad.

So I try to mix it up with like vocal records that I did that might be a little bit more, you know for the masses. But combine it with weird songs that I find in someone's kitchen at 06:00."

From Drugs From Amsterdam to Receipts with Diplo and Gunna, your sound has evolved, but it’s still very distinctly Mau P. How has your approach to music shifted as your career has progressed?

"I think it's definitely matured a little bit, because, although it started with Drugs From Amsterdam, it's really important for me to show everyone there's an actual vision behind this. Give Me That Bounce was sort of in that same ballpark.

Now, every song that I make is just me having a lot of fun in doing so."

Your career has been on a meteoric rise since 2022. How do you keep yourself grounded amidst the rapid growth and high-profile bookings?

"Well, I'm from a really small town in the Netherlands, so it's super easy for me to get coffee for example, because every time I come back to either where my mum lives, or in Amsterdam, nobody really recognises me.

Or maybe they do and it's just like a Dutch thing that they just let you do your groceries and whatever. When I do get stopped, everyone that comes up to me are so nice. Everyone's super excited to see you. I still find it crazy that people are listening to my music!"

You've worked with legends like Armand Van Helden and Mike Dunn and remixed for Swedish House Mafia and Calvin Harris. How did these collaborations come about?

"With Swedish House Mafia, I just got on their radar and they asked me to do a remix, which is crazy because they're legends to me. All of a sudden I'm talking to Axwell!

One day Armand Van Helden called me around the time that Drugs From Amsterdam came out. It all started to happen, so I was getting a lot of calls from some big guys!

But it's it's when you talk to them, they're just so nice, and it's like 'Okay, they're just another person...'"

You've played massive festivals like Tomorrowland and EDC, but Ibiza is a more intimate and immersive setting. How do you adjust your performance style for a residency vs. a festival slot?

"It's so different because festival sets are one hour one and a half.

Before I tried to freestyle those sets, and be there in front of tens of thousands of people and just be like 'I'm gonna play this song now.' But you just get so stressed because the clock is ticking and you're like, 'Oh shit, I just played three songs!' So now I try to plan them out.

But at Pacha for the longer sets, I don't prepare anything. I just start somewhere and get the vibe of the crowd."

Do you have a favourite artist to work with?

"I love going back-to-back with Solomon. And there's this Greek guy called a Detlef. I have a lot of Greek friends, so we bonded before we started playing back-to-back two years ago. The back-to-back was just so much fun."
