Staff picks | Party radar for October 2024

Our club team select their highlights from September and look forward to the month ahead.

Nobody has a more informed overview of the party scene here on Ibiza, than the seasoned clubbers at Ibiza Spotlight. Are we blowing our own trumpet? Well, yes, a little - and justifiably so.

Cumulatively, no organisation matches the number of hours spent on the island's dancefloors down the years since we launched in 1976 (and we shows the signs of wear and tear to prove it!). Without having the exact data to hand, that's easily a fact, we're confident in saying.

Here, we recount the highlights from September and look ahead to the DJs we can't wait to see in October.

Rossi. presents HOME//GRXWN | 528 Ibiza | 8 September

Firstly, who doesn't love a daytime rave? Secondly, who doesn't love an after party? At the start of September, one of my favourite DJs and producers Rossi. took to 528 Ibiza's Amphitheatre stage to throw his first ever HOME//GRXWN party on Ibiza.

From dancing the night away under the sun to the stars, and then to a private after party in a hidden spot in Playa d'en Bossa afterwards, Rossi., Locklead and Josh Baker all went back-to-back until 05:00, playing to an intimate crowd of around 100 people.

At 528, a perfectly curated line-up of Minimal and Tech House's finest had the crowd fist pumping until close, making this party one of my highlights of the summer. Also, if you haven't partied at 528 this summer, you need to put it firmly on your agenda for 2025.

Paradise | Amnesia Ibiza by PHRANK

Jamie Jones b2b Joseph Capriati | Paradise closing party | Amnesia | 2 October

After last year's Paradise closing madness, I can only expect the same rave revelry in 2024. Hopefully even better!

With a stacked line-up across both rooms, you can expect a whopper back-to-back closing set from Jamie Jones and Joseph Capriati in the Terraza, plus sets from Hot Since 82, TSHA, Fleur Shore and Mason Maynard.

In the Music Box, Tech House trio Mason Collective, Richy Ahmed, Rossi., Manda Moor and Robert James will close out the mega party in style. And, if you've got the connections, there's bound to be a secret villa party on Thursday. Keep your eyes and ears peeled.

Our allocation is kaput for this, but if you want a cheeky little workaround, then buy a combo ticket from Lost In Ibiza boat party to guarantee your spot on the dancefloor.

House In Paradise | O Beach Ibiza

Jamie Love b2b DAYL | House In Paradise | O Beach | 18 September

Sun-kissed vocal House goodness is always guaranteed at midweek fiesta House In Paradise.

On this day, the shout-out has to go to our O Beach resident DJs who have kept the party going all season long. Every week, they match the vibe perfectly. Jamie Love back-to-back with DAYL shut down the party with feel-good crowd-pleasers. You guys are the spirit of the party!

If, like me, you find yourself clinging onto summer, then O Beach is one place where the temperature never drops below sizzling. It’s the perfect match.

Do Not Sleep | Amnesia by Mario Pinta

Max Dean b2b Luke Dean | Do Not Sleep | Amnesia | 9 October

It feels like a criminal offence that I’ve not ventured to Do Not Sleep once this year. However, it looks like I’ve saved the best until last, because the closing line-up at Amnesia is so packed, it should be illegal.

Rallying in frontline talents of the underground, the bill in question goes a little something like this: Cousins Max Dean and Luke Dean deliver one of their huge back-to-back sets following a handover from Dutch House prodigy Locklead. As far as unmissable parties go, I rest my case.

Joseph Capriati presents Metamorfosi | Amnesia Ibiza by PHRANK

Joseph Capriati b2b Seth Troxler b2b ANOTR | Metamorfosi closing party | Amnesia | 6 September

There’s just something about a night with Joseph Capriati. He’s one of those artists who can effortlessly hold a dancefloor in the palm of his hand. At Metamorfosi's closing, he did just that.

The party only had a run of eight Fridays over peak summer. Maybe it's this short but sweet time Metamorfosi had, but there's definitely a special energy Capriati has created at his residency. For the finale, he lined up an epic back-to-back, inviting Seth Troxler and ANOTR into the booth.

A notable moment was hearing a Techno remix of Garage favourite Do You Really Like It? burst out across the club. The dancefloor ate it up. When an artist can get away with throwing curveball tracks like these throughout their set, you know their playing at another level.

On the radar for October

Hernán Cattáneo | Las Dalias

Hernán Cattáneo | Las Dalias | 11 October

I'll admit, Hernán Cattáneo hadn't been on my radar before this summer.

However, when he was announced for his first party this summer at Las Dalias in May, there were whoops of joy from my co-workers. Otherwise known as El Maestro, the Argentina-born DJ and producer has a dedicated fan base of music lovers, including the Ibiza Spotlight team.

Sadly, I missed his first party but I heard countless rapturous reviews in my absence. Expectations are always high for artists at Akasha, but Hernán took the crowd on a greater journey than even they anticipated.

His return on 11 October is marked by a back-to-back. He is joined by Nick Warren in both the garden and club. That's a duo that's not to be missed.

25Y Cocoon Ibiza | 528 Ibiza by PHRANK

Sven Väth | 25Y Cocoon Ibiza | 528 Ibiza | 25 September

All the way back at the start of May, I said it would take a very special party to eclipse Laurent Garnier's date at Akasha. In fact, it took all the way until the end of September for something to match it. That party was Cocoon's 25th anniversary reunion at 528 Ibiza.

All day, I was bumping into old faces and the atmosphere was electric from start to finish. Aside from the emotional aspect of Cocoon's return, it was great to see 528 completely full. Dancing inside Teatro for the on-site after party felt completely fresh and new - unchartered territory.

The immediate future of Cocoon on Ibiza remains unclear, but even if we have to wait another five years until the next one, it'll be worth the wait.

On the radar for October

Acid Pauli | Black Coffee closing party | Hï Ibiza | 5 October

In an industry full of hyperbole, the phrase "legendary DJ" is thrown around recklessly. But when it comes to hippy-spirited Acid Pauli, that tag is more than justified. Best known on Ibiza for his stint heading up Acid Sundays (the forbearer of Woomoon), Acid Pauli still pops up several times a summer in the mid-2020s (although not nearly enough as we would like...)

Black Coffee's closing is also worth checking-out, because Damian Lazarus plays two sets on the night. The first is his usual Hï Ibiza Club Room residency, while he also joins the party host in The Theatre.

Imagining Pauli and Damian next to one another in the booth paints quite a picture. The shaman and the wizard, cooking up alchemy.
