How to have the best Ibiza stag or hen party

The perfect spot to say adios to the single life.

Why Ibiza?

That Ibiza is a great place to party for your stag or hen do is not in doubt: the White Isle attracts party-loving people from all over the world. Choosing it as a fun location to say adios! to the single life could be one of your best decisions.

There are plenty of bars and, let's face it, that's a big part of a hen or stag. Being on the planet of partying is the biggest cherry on the cake: a whole world of super-clubs and boatloads of parties await your wild night.

There are bars for all budgets and styles, eating out is easy and on top of that there are sensational sunsets, a glimmering turquoise sea and the most chilled vibe in the Mediterranean.

If you are the one in charge of organising, read on for a whole selection of tips and advice to help you design the perfect Ibiza stag or hen event.

When

With weddings usually taking place in summer, herds of fertile young bucks can be spotted in mankinis from as early as April strutting elegantly along the seafront, attempting to attract the attention of a gaggle of garlanded hens who have congregated at a nearby watering hole, their tiaras glinting in the sunlight.

Stag and Hen season is in full swing by May and Early June - the perfect time to take advantage of the best value flights from low-cost airlines and cheap hotel rooms before families take over.

With the clubs opening from the last weekend of April, there is enough going on in the early season to cater for most groups' needs but in the full season, the choice is endless. Although, leaving the planning too late and finding accommodation for a group in mid-summer can be challenging and expensive.

Arriving

Once you get here, you need to get to where you are going. As you're with a group, why not skip the taxi queue and arrange for a private transfer in a private minibus? It works out not much more than a fleet of cabs and will help to get the trip off to a good start, travelling VIP style to your accommodation.

For the person organising the whole shebang, pre-booking a transfer means prices can be accounted for in the budget too, so everyone knows what they'll be spending.

If you are going to be visiting various places on the island, you can hire a car and pick it up at the airport. Check out our low-down of all forms of transport on Ibiza.

Where to stay

The two liveliest resorts are Playa d'en Bossa and San Antonio and both places are more than geared up for a stag or hen do, with lots happening near the beaches, endless bars and great nightlife. Having everything on your doorstep is a big bonus as you can get to most places easily on foot.

Where you sleep and relax could be a main part of the trip and on Ibiza there is a wide choice of places. In recent years, adults-only hotels have come into their own with some truly great pads and make the sensible option for groups who want to have fun.

In San Antonio and the surrounding Bay area, the quality of the hotels goes up every year but you should still find an abundance of cheap accommodation, especially in low season.

Over in Playa d'en Bossa there are more pool parties, heaps of lively pre-party venues, exotic beach clubs and some of Ibiza’s world-class nightclubs. Although, this is reflected in higher accommodation prices here.

For more ideas, see our articles on hotels that go from high-end, to budget in both San Antonio places and Playa d'en Bossa accommodation.

Where to party

Ibiza is a place to party, some might say it's THE place, so you won't be short of options for where to go. What you choose depends on what your hens and stags like and our world famous party calendar is your first port of call for planning those most important dates and getting your tickets booked in advance.

Ushuaïa Ibiza

As there's a bunch of you, go for parties with banging tunes and/or vocals to leave a grin on all your friends' faces.

San An is full of good value bars to make your own base. The revived West End has had a recent makeover and bars and clubs line the narrow streets, offering a cheaper night out for groups. Rio Ibiza in the Marina makes the perfect meeting point to plan your night manoeuvres.

San Antonio's Sunset Strip is where to head for unforgettable sunsets and superb cocktails at Café Mambo or Café del Mar, but you will need to pre-book. A cheaper option is Golden Buddha at Caló des Moro at the end of the strip, however, be sure to arrive early to snaffle a table.

Hens will love to start the evening fun watching the sun go down dining on the terrace at WiKi Woo Hotel or Itaca while Stags should definitely head to Linekers Ibiza or Ibiza Rocks Bar where you can hire exclusive VIP booths with bottle service for the evening.

Pikes Ibiza by David Arnoldi

Everyone can let their hair down at Pikes

There is a great party atmosphere by night at all these venues with DJ sets and it's a just short walk to San Antonio's super-clubs too.

For the ultimate in lost weekends, many daring parties succumb to the lure of Pikes Ibiza Hotel, where you can check in, but you can never check out. This is the legendary hotel/pool party/cocktail bar/club paradise for over 25's where lifetime memories are made. Just make sure you get your names on the guestlist early and remember the door policy 'No C***s'...

In Ibiza's biggest resort, Playa d'en Bossa, the choice of places to wet your whistle are legion. Full of banging pre-party venues, from the famous Tantra bar, where lots convene, to Dunes Ibiza, where you should try its two-for-one cocktail deals.

Classy beach clubs like BeachouseNassau Beach Club, Tanit Beach Club and Coco Beach line the golden sand and offer high-end glamour for the well-heeled bachelor/bachelorette.

If you are in Ibiza Town, you should definitely dig into the famous pre-club bars on the Port's harbourfront, especially for the crazy club parades. Calle de la Virgen, the gay street that runs behind the port, is just an explosion of energy.

Should you want to add a dash of extravagance, planning one big group meal is always a nice touch on such a trip. You're going to need some fuel for all that partying - and dining can be combined with dancing and music at several high-end eateries.

For an alfresco dinner experience with plenty of entertainment thrown in, the steakhouse El Carnicero ticks all boxes. Alternatively, an indoor option STK Ibiza has themed promoters on rotation throughout the week.

Both can be found on the outskirts of Ibiza Town and, while neither is a cheap option, your stag or hen deserves the special treatment ahead of their big day. You'll be well looked at both establishments and there will certainly be no complaints about the menu.

When staying on Ibiza, a trip to one of its super-clubs should be on the cards and you'll want to go for parties like Defected or WNDRLND at Eden in San Antonio for upbeat, vocal House and a profusion of happy sounds. Alternatively, neighbouring Es Paradis has plenty of nights with accessible music, featuring chart, Hip-Hop, R&B, Latin Urban and vocal House throughout the week. Crucially, ticket prices don't break the bank.

O Beach Ibiza

Livin' it up is easy at O Beach

For a daytime fun fiesta, O Beach brings both glamour and exhilaration to pool parties and you could be basking with the Jet Set on your own VIP bed. Ibiza Rocks Hotel's pool parties are also legendary, with hosts like the mega-talented Craig David and Becky Hill.

For more back-to-basics raving, Ushuaïa is of course an incredible spot and ANTS on a Saturday afternoon is definitely worth a try. It is the cheapest party of the week and opens early giving you chance to get your feet wet in the pool before moving over to the spectacular main stage to soak up the atmosphere all the way to 23:00.

The Masquerade | Pacha by Peter Young

Saturday nights at Pacha tick the boxes of both seasoned and novice clubbers

Keeping everybody happy in a large group can be a tall order. For all-rounders that are going to feature only the biggest club anthems past and present, look at Pure Pacha with Robin Schulz on Thursdays or Tiësto on Tuesdays at Ushuaïa. Weekenders should try The Masquerade at Pacha or crazed carnival elrow at Amnesia - both on Saturdays.

Finally, and for the ultimate night out if you have the cash, book one of the clubs' VIP tables. It IS a special occasion and you can skip the big queues and get treated like kings and queens.

Jumping onto a boat party gives drinks and club entries thrown in

Remember boat parties make a great option for keeping your group together whilst you party. Boats depart from both main resorts and you'll get drinks included. You can also buy combo tickets allowing you entry to one or two clubs with some companies.

Don't forget that the discobus takes you to all clubs on the island through the night too, so you won't miss out on what's happening at Amnesia or the other resorts.

And the rest...

There are plenty of great experiences you can have for your farewell to singledom. Here we present some ideas.

For a top outing, charter a boat for the day. Think free-flowing drinks, some top tunes, the sea, the sun and you. When you split the cost, it's very affordable. Many organised boat trips are on offer too if you can't quite stretch to that.

Hens love to pamper themselves, so why not treat yourselves to a special spa treatment or a relaxing massage? Some great suggestions can be found in our Mind, Body and Soul section.

Travel around the island in retro style

If you want to cruise around in retro style, you might want to hire some cool classic Ford Mustangs. Get picked up at the airport, opt for a driver to take you around and know you can park easily in VIP car parks. If it's the "wow" factor you want, you need this in your life.

All kinds of water fun and island tours are at hand. Whether it's a jet ski tour or an exhilarating buggy or quad bike tour, Ibiza has loads of things to do

A note, on responsibility when you come. We know you probably want to let loose and why not? Just make sure it's not to the detriment of everyone else and avoid leaving your junk behind. Basically, love Ibiza and it will love you back.

So with that groundwork done, it's now down to you to have the best, most rip-roaring time of your life.
