Eating out in Ibiza’s San Antonio

With new and better restaurants, plus a fantastic choice of places to fill your tummies, this resort just keeps getting better and better.

San Antonio these days is far more than a playground for young party people. In fact, the town and its surrounding areas have started to see a welcome increase in both the number and diversity of incredible places to eat.

Today, the popular west coast resort has all kinds of restaurants offering cuisines from around the world and at prices that suit all budgets.

Here we round up some of our favourites to tickle your taste buds for your next meal out. Buen provecho!

Es Tragón

Cala Gracio

Es Tragón is the first restaurant in Ibiza to be awarded the prestigious Michelin star. Its chef Álvaro Sanz and a talented team of young chefs prepare multi-course degustación menus, which will take your flavour palate to places it may have never been before. It can't be called a budget restaurant: we're talking very fine dining here; however, what you get is an entirely sublime culinary experience that you will never forget.

Sa Capella

San Antonio

Universally loved as a true Ibiza institution, Sa Capella still has the ability to transport its diners to a bygone era steeped in romanticism. Loyal clients are lured back, year after year, by the unique atmosphere, the delicious cuisine that manages to be both traditional and inventive plus the highest standards of attentive and remarkably unobtrusive service. Definitely the place to treat your loved one to a romantic night out or to spot the odd celebrity holidaymaker.

Pom Thai

Cala de Bou

Arguably the best Thai restaurant in Ibiza and certainly the classiest. POM Thai has raised the bar for capturing the flavours of old Siam. The menu is not extensive, which means they focus the attention on getting those dishes absolutely spot on and freshness is of course guaranteed. Just try not to fall into the pool after too many Singha Beers!

La Cantina Canalla

San Antonio

Deliciously good Peruvian fusion food on the main palm-tree-lined promenade by the boats. The authenticity of the South American dishes is truly remarkable and the friendly service rises to the same level. La Cantina Canalla is, without doubt, one of San Antonio's biggest surprises. Go there and tell us we were wrong, we dare you!

El Viejo Gallo

Port des Torrent

Located close to the beach at Port des Torrent and situated under a charming canopy of Juniper-wood beams, El Viejo Gallo is a restaurant that prides itself in serving seafood and meat of the very highest quality and paellas that uphold the best of the tradition. The Ibizan favourite dish of Bullit de Peix is one of the restaurant's star turns.

Rio Ibiza

San Antonio Marina

A great swanky hang out for the younger generation, where a wide variety of food, at reasonable prices, can be sampled. Then there's the great view of San Antonio's marina. The Rio Ibiza menu offers an enormous range of choices, starting with “bottomless brunches” plus the roof terrace barbecues are extremely popular in the height of the summer season.

Tapas Restaurant and Lounge Bar

San Antonio

Tapas is famous for traditional and innovative tapas plates, which have gained popularity with tourists and locals alike. This unpretentious gem run by the lovely Tony and Bex is great value and always busy, so don't be surprised if you have to wait if you haven't reserved a table. But don't worry, you could always enjoy a selection of their equally delicious cocktails in the meantime.

Chimichurri

San Agustin

At the start of the road to the glorious beaches of Cala Conta and Cala Bassa is this excellent little find of a restaurant. The grilled meats at Chimichurri are excellent, as are its more classic dishes; the garden area in which to enjoy the food is charm personified and you have the choice of excellent wines and over 80 of the world's best beers to wash your food down with.

Ample 32

San Antonio

This elegant restaurant overlooks a sparkling patch of bay, perfect for the famous San An sunset. At Ample 32 you'll find a modern and creative menu, plus the plate presentation and portion sizes are excellent. Ideal for long lazy lunches or relaxed evening dining, this is a great find and is close by to the small, yet perfectly formed beach of, Calo de Moro at the end of the Sunset Strip.

Palapa

San Antonio

This charming little, chiringuito-style, restaurant, also situated on the San Antonio promenade, is another location popular with the younger crowd for its fun, laid-back sharing style. With an authentic take on Mexican street food, you will find your favourite spicy nachos and tacos at Palapa to enjoy with a drop of mezcal. And when the bill arrives, it won't bust the bank.

Contra Vent

Port des Torrent

A well-known meeting point for local residents, which is reflected in the affordable pricing. Contra Vent offers very popular set menus and delicious traditional Ibizan cuisine, with locally sourced ingredients, including meat from the famous supplier, Es Cucó. Its philosophy is a commitment to offering quality local products, showcasing the true flavours of Ibiza - no surprise that it attracts people from all across the island.
