A passion parade: Ibiza’s carnivals in 2020

Streets of the White Isle come vibrantly alive.

An explosion of colour is set to hit Ibiza's streets this week as the 2020 carnival celebrations take place across the island. Troupes of dancers and entertainers will parade across Ibiza's towns and villages as onlookers joyfully observe the circus of costumed characters.

This annual February tradition is a fun event for everyone, bringing together island dwellers and visitors for this jazzy fiesta. The revelry and rhythmic sounds showcase the talents of the local dance academies, as well as anyone, including some wacky volunteers who join in the jamboree.

In addition to the floats and frolicking, you can enjoy other customary events aside from the carnival parade.

In the island's capital Ibiza Town, after the festivities, you can tuck into a delicious paella, dished out in Reina Sofia park for the low price of €2 - foodies can rejoice.

Over in Formentera following the parade, a fabulous costume party takes place in Plaza de la Constitución with prizes for the very best dressed.

This year you can catch the parades in three different locations. The most popular and largest one takes place in Ibiza Town; the second-largest takes place in San Antonio. Each of the other local municipalities of San Josep de Sa Talaia, Santa Eulalia, Sant Joan and Formentera have smaller but equally as exuberant parties.
