Wash away the old year
1 January
An Ibiza tradition that's now nine years old, where the brave and the hearty run into the January sea at Las Salinas for the New Year's Dive. Organised by local vintners Vino & Co, the deal is that they provide the booze and you bring the food. There are three timed dives with the first at midday. This year the event is supporting Proyecto Juntos, helping kids with medium and long term illnesses. Sustainable cups, cutlery and plates are provided.
We three kings of orient are
5 January
The journey of the Three Wise Men from the Orient is celebrated on Ibiza in a big way. Many towns and villages will see colourful decorated floats parade past the crowds. Ibiza Town's starts in the port area and San Antonio's on the main palm-tree lined promenade, both from 18:30. In Santa Eulalia it all begins a shade earlier at 18:00 from Plaza España. Kids and adults will adore this last gasp of the festive season. Full Christmas programmes for all locations are in our Events Calendar.
Fun at the fair
1-20 January
If you love dodgems, ferris wheels and all those things that make you feel like a kid again, Ibiza Town's Fun Fair is for you. It's a great day or evening out for the whole family with special rides just for the little ones too of course. We say try the churros, the long doughnut fingers caked in cinnamon sugar. Altogether it's a definite must to beat any January blues.
Independence days of film
Begins 31 January
On the last day of the month, the IBICINE international independent film festival begins, showcasing a variety of indie movies in their original language versions. There's even a splashy awards ceremony attracting the great and the good of independent movies. Workshops that explain the process and help create appreciation for the movies run alongside the film screenings. It runs until 9 February, so get in there.
Art in the mart
All month long
Ibiza's Art Supermarket is an annual event that runs from December to January at the Garden Art Gallery just outside of San José. With a beautiful old farmhouse at its centre and beautiful gardens, it's one of the most wonderful ways to pick up some original art from emerging local artists. Fill that space on the wall with something truly original.
Live music nights
All month long
If you are looking for a place to enliven winter nights, look no further than Teatro Ibiza in Ibiza Town. Each night from around just after 23:00, there's a great programme of concerts and live music from Monday to Saturday. If you like late night jamming sessions, head on down to one of the hottest spots in town.
Wine time
All month long
Ibiza's Ibizkus Winery, makers of that emblematic rose wine in the pretty embossed bottles, that you must have seen if you've ever been here. What greater way to spend an afternoon or evening than to try one of it's guided tours with a tasting of five wines? It all comes at a very reasonable price and you can add in a platter of Spanish delicacies for a bit more and you have quite the trip out.
