Unmissable gigs to see in Ibiza this week

Because you'd be daft to miss out.

You land in Ibiza and expect to hear some things that will be cast in the epic category. There are artists who you'll see popping up regularly on the calendar, but if we're to dig in and unearth events that are considered to be that big bit special, we must cast our eyes over some one-off specials, exclusives, and rare appearances. Luckily for you lot, we've done the job of gathering those gems for you and our list will take you to DC10, Privilege, HEART Ibiza and Amnesia. Read on and load up your itinerary.

Tuesday 11 July / Carl Cox / Pure Carl Cox at Privilege

This brute isn't in need of much more publicity – your gran probably even knows about it by now. However, this list wouldn't make sense if it went unmentioned. The first of his only two dates at Privilege this year, we can't even begin to imagine the levels of exhilaration that'll be spilling from our pores come Tuesday. With a monstrous line-up, it all begins at 20:00 and you've got not one, but two opportunities to see Coxy, as he's tempers the Coco Loco room before he hits that colossal Discoteca. Guests include Joseph Capriati, tINI, Darren Emerson, Jon Rundell, Archie Hamilton, Bushwacka, Eats Everything and Hybrasil. Like Coxy said in our interview with him earlier this summer, when you consider that some of these guys have never even been in Privilege, Privilege is going to be absolutely buzzing from front to back.

Tuesday 11 July / Andy C and Chase & Status exclusive B2B / Together at Amnesia

While Privilege is thundering under relentless techno, a quick dive down the road will take you to Amnesia where the Main Room is ruled by drum & bass. This Tuesday is particularly special because we have in Andy C and Chase & Status with their first ever back to back blowout. For bassheads, this will be unmissable and we'd bet that clubbers have made their way to the island specifically for this showdown.

Wednesday 12 July / Adam Beyer / Paradise at DC10

In between pushing sets at Cocoon, techno titan Adam Beyer is sneaking in one cheeky date with Jamie Jones' Paradise crew. We'd consider this beauty to be unmissable as over the last two seasons, he infiltrated Paradise crowds on just two ocassions, and let's just say they left their mark. It's a rare occurrence and it's one that needs to be sampled. Listen to the above and tell us we're wrong. For those who like to kick things off early, take a look at the Lost In Ibiza boat party Paradise package, which includes your entrance to Paradise, and Magna Carta x Faction at Eden the next night.

Friday 14 July / Solomun / Diynamic Showcase at DC10

Last year's Diynamic pelting at DC10 was ridiculous – we went on about it for weeks. To say it left its mark would be a huge understatement. Diynamic label chief Solomun led us down a twisted lane that had us on our knees to some seriously incredible music. The heat can't all be attributed to him of course, as with cohorts including HOSH, Adriatique, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Karmon, Johannes Brecht, Magdalena, Undercatt and Lehar – the magic was there from everyone involved. This year, all of the above return and we're already climbing the walls in anticipation. Until Friday, check out last year's top ten tracks.

Saturday 15 July / Jellybean Benitez / Boogie In Wonderland at HEART Ibiza

Here's one for the dance music history buffs. If his isn't a name that you're familiar with, let us break it down real quick. Dance music culture owes much to the ground-breaking New York City scene of the ‘70s and ‘80s, and innovative DJs like John “Jellybean” Benitez. He's played alongside some of the most extolled legends in NYC during their prime, including Larry Levan at the Paradise Garage, David Mancuso at the Loft and Richie Kaczor at Studio 54. His residency in Manhattan, the Funhouse, was hugely influential. He's produced and remixed for Madonna, Whitney Houston, Debbie Harry, Michael Jackson, Talking Heads and Afrika Bambaataa, among more. We could go on, but we reckon you've got the picture. Jellybean is a true legend in every sense of the word, and what an absolute honour it is to have him in for a gig this summer.
