Ibiza 2017 season news roundup EIGHT

A roundup of news that proves summer is worth sinning for.

We're going to launch in with the assumption here that your Easter weekend threw in a fair few number of opportunities to give your mates the following patter: "I partied so hard this weekend, I felt like Jesus rocking out that tomb." If it wasn't that nutshell of religious appropriation, it was no doubt some other knackered one liner. Some of you likely began today with the glazed expression of one sorry sausage, but here's something to put that spark back in as we selfishly override your suffering and bring it back to Ibiza. Sun, sea, clubs, boat parties...you know the drill.

Pukka Up boat party kicks off Saturdays

Pukka Up is an ocean-bound bash that's never short of queuing clubbers, and now that Saturdays have been added to the calendar, we know we're guaranteed another scorcher summer. The first of Pukka Up's weekend cruisers heads out on 10 June, and from then you´ve got until 23 September to experience this crew's perception of what partying truly means. Two tickets types are on sale, with the boat party tickets also giving you a pre-party at Rio, and the package ticket throwing in entry to Tropical Wonderland at Eden on Saturday night and Cuckoo Land at Ibiza Rocks Hotel on Sunday afternoon.

Laidback Luke confirms techno dates at Eden

Depending on their age, people associate Laidback Luke with different sounds. If EDM is where you've been getting your music licks for the past few years, then he's a name heavily associated with the genre. You might have also been introduced to him during the glory days of electro house. Or if we go back even further and step into the ´90s you might know him for bashing out seriously good house and techno, and that's what he'll be doing in Ibiza this summer. If you caught his set in December last year at New York's Flash Factory, you might be especially excited by this news. His techno set in New York hammered out tracks from Reset Robot, Sasha Carassi, Truncate and Luigi Madonna – he knows his stuff. On Friday 30 June and Friday 28 July, he'll be at Eden with the Taste The Punch gang, and there's your chance to check out Laidback Luke's origins in dance music.

The move comes after selling out parties in the UK, and we'll be getting our taste for it on Thursday 1 June. Dance 88/89 back with the nostalgia at Sankeys

Acid house and Balearic beats will be back in focus at Sankeys from Wednesday 7 June. We were gunning for this residency to make a heady return in 2017, and we know clubbers who pounced on this nostalgic ride were feeling the same. We'll be drenched in the kind of sweat that pumped the second Summer Of Love full of party spirit and we've got 16 dates to do so. On top of that, this year marks the 30th anniversary of the days when Paul Oakenfold, Danny Rampling and Nicky Holloway came to Ibiza and discovered the music at Amnesia listening to the legendary Alfredo. It does not get much better than celebrating with the original spirit that sparked the movement.
