Art Explora Festival: The world’s first museum-boat

A floating masterpiece sails into Ibiza Town this April.

Prepare to be amazed as the Art Explora Festival docks in the Port of Ibiza. The centrepiece of this cultural odyssey is a stunning 47-metre catamaran, the world's first museum-boat designed by renowned architects Axel de Beaufort and Guillaume Verdier.

Step on board this Italian-built marvel to experience a groundbreaking immersive exhibition created in collaboration with the Louvre Museum, alongside a bespoke soundscape developed by Ircam.

The festival is a vibrant fusion of art and tech, driven by the foundation’s mission to bridge the cultural divide, fostering a more inclusive and democratic way for everyone to connect with the arts. Music, Dance and Creative Workshops

Throughout the week, the IGY Ibiza Marina quay will host live performances and events:

  • Saturday 25th April (18:00–18:30) Traditional folk dance by Colla Sa Bodega, one of the island’s most iconic groups.
  • Wednesday 29th April (20:00–21:00) DJ set by Jana Saleh.

Additionally, a series of workshops will be held, designed as spaces for transmission, exchange, and active participation. These align with the festival’s goal of making art accessible and fostering cultural connections. Highlights include:

  • Saturday 26th April – Esparto (10:30–14:30) An introduction to this traditional Ibizan plant fibre, blending history with artisanal practice.
  • Saturday 25th April – Baile Payés (16:00–18:00) An interactive workshop on traditional Ibizan dance.
  • Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th April – Ibiza Cinema Guide / Dalt Vila (12:00–14:00) Discover Ibiza through the lens of cinema with filmmaker Enrique Villalonga. This guided tour through La Marina and Dalt Vila includes stops at various filming locations to learn about movies shot on-site and view scenes in situ. A unique way to explore the island through the language of film.
  • Sunday 26th April – Suminagashi (10:30–13:30) An introduction to the Japanese art of floating ink.
  • Sunday 26th April – Sound of Coco (16:00–17:30 and 18:00–19:30) An immersive storytelling experience inspired by Mediterranean myths.
