Things to do this month on Ibiza | September 2023

Enjoy the post-high season vibe on Ibiza in all its many facets.

After the heat and frenzied activity that characterises August, September always comes as a welcome relief on the white island. In fact, island aficionados will tell you that the coming weeks are the best time to be here.

Fortunately, if you are lucky enough to have chosen this month to visit, you can be sure there are still plenty of great things to do.

With a full agenda of cultural, musical and sporting events as well as conventions, festivals and patron saint festivities, it's a great month to visit Ibiza. And that's before we even mention any of the wicked parties going on...:)

Read our guide to September’s highlights below.

Best of all, the concerts are held in open-air locations around Ibiza Town, including Reina Sofía Park and Santa Lucia Bastion; both ideal venues for enjoying the best live Jazz music against an unbeatable backdrop.

Ibiza Comedy presents...The Kings of Europe

Live, English-language stand-up comedy returns once again to San Antonio when The Kings of Europe rock up to Eden nightclub for a night of raucous, rib-tickling adult humour. Tickets are on sale exclusively on the Ibiza Spotlight Party Calendar for only €20. Group discounts are also available, so gather your mates together and come on down for a good laugh.

Brisa Flamenca Festival

8 - 9 September

Though the line-up is still to be announced, fans of the quintessential Andalusian art form will be excited to hear of the return (for its sixth edition) of Brisa Flamenca Festival in San Antonio. Get your castanets out and prepare to clap and dance along with top local and national performers.

Body Art Bonanza plus much more - Ibiza Tattoo Convention

8 - 10 September

The fourth edition of the Ibiza Tattoo Convention will be held, as usual, at the Ibiza Congress Palace in Santa Eulalia. Ruffles and Revelry - Ibiza Burlesque Festival

Now in its 7th year, Ibiza Burlesque Festival is back for another extravaganza. Expect top-notch international cabaret, glitzy pool parties and the world's best burlesque performers. The main shows will be held at Aperture Terrace rooftop, located in San Antonio Bay.

Ibiza Beer and Gourmet Festival

22 - 23 September

A popular (hic) perennial here on the island, the Ibiza Beer Festival is back. As ever, the venue is the Recinto Ferial, the exhibition centre located on the Ibiza Town - San Antonio Road.

As well as the chance to quaff from among over 200 varieties of beer from around the world, the event will also host the first edition of the Ibiza Gourmet Festival. The latter is a tribute to Ibizan gastronomy, allowing gourmands the chance to sample the best dishes and tapas, wines and champagnes and local produce of renowned local restaurants and producers.

Sounds like a double whammy! There are also live music sessions and performances.

Sport events - take part or watch and cheer

3 and 10 September

Sportswise, September sees the celebration of two notable events.

The first, the Big Splash swim crossing - organised by Project Zero and Ibiza Blue Challenge - takes place on 10 September. Comprising four swims of differing lengths and levels of ability that start out from Talamanca Beach, the aim of the event is to raise funds to protect and restore ocean and marine ecosystems.

The second, the Mini Marathon is a traditional road race that departs from Passeig de ses Fonts in San Antonio to coincide with the town's month-long patron saint festivities of San Bartomeu. Catering to all ages and levels, this fun event occurs on 3 September.

Open-air film screenings

Movie fans will be pleased to know this month sees several showings across the island. Movieland night at Hotel Mongibello will screen the epoch-defining La Dolce Vita on 15 September while Starlit Movie Nights at Hotel Riomar Ibiza, in Santa Eulalia, will offer a twice-monthly showing of cult movies.

San Miguel Patron Saint Festivities

29 September

San Miguel honours its Patron Saint with a traditional Mass, a procession, exhibitions of farmers' dances and an eclectic programme of activities designed for all ages. Visit this village in the northwest of the island for an insight into authentic rural life.
