Marconfort El Greco Hotel

A party of 10 of us recently stayed at the hotel El Greco apartments at Portinatx, booked through Spotlight. The service and help from Spotlight was excellent...they are the only booking agents I believe. They are three villa type apartments. There was a private swimming pool for just the three apartments. This absolutely made our holiday. We were there over the August Bank holiday weekend and were so pleased to have our own pool as the one for the hotel was very crowded indeed. But we had luxury and peace when we wanted it. The apartments were spacious and lovely, but the patios and sunbathing areas were absolutely gorgeous. We had about four sunbeds to each person, so no worry as to where we sat or worry about towels being put out at 6 am!!!!! And they are only about a 3/4 minute walk to the main hotel. so the kids were able to go across there on their own, when they wanted to play pool or go to the Wifi room.!! Typical kids. I had been to Portinaxt many years ago in 1984, and its beauty had always remained in my mind..and it is still the same today. The beaches and views are unsurpassable. The hotel food is very good for a 3 star hotel...Not excellent, but very good and the staff were all friendly. We had six grandchildren in the party and they all found plenty of variety and were always full...the Pizza corner being the favourite, followed by the many pasta and spaghetti dishes. For me it was the Sangria with my meals..this was great and ran freely from the machines as well as beer, wines and soft drinks. Even the tea was good!!! The only downside was there could have been more variety on the sweets table. Our main complaint was the hotel entertainment..or LACK of it. We would sit each evening after our meal until it started at 10pm approx, quite a wait really......Some evening were OK some were not, but most evenings we wondered why we had sat waiting for such a meagre show. Vincents bar on the other side of the beach is definitely worth a visit, or two....Pub type atmosphere and good fun with resident good singer...We treated ourselves to an evening meal out on a couple of occasions, leaving the many grand children with my daughter and husband...while my partner and I slipped away for a romantic meal at the restaurant just across the beach. I can't recall the name, but from the hotel restaurant you look across the bay and there is a row of blue railings just on a rocky headland to the right...it is so peaceful to sit there at the outside patio watching the little boats bobbing about while eating a gorgeous meal. A must if you ever go there. Only a short walk across the beach. I wish I were back there now...Our ages ranged from 8 years to 68 years, and we all had a wonderful time... Maggie and family.
