SPTL132: Sharam Jey

The Bunny Tiger label head is up this week.

The Mix

Talk us through the track selection of the mix.

"The selection is kicking off with my newest single "TheTime". An 80s flavored smooth tune. Solomon had this exclusively since last summer and constantly played it in his set. So huge support from him on this one. Then the mix builds up nicely with Betoko, it then takes you on a small journey to deep house and nu disco. The peak time track is my newest collaboration with my old mate Kolombo called 'Friday Night."

"So I am actaully trying to please my whole fanbase with this mix."

Where and how was the mix recorded?

"In Cologne, my hometown. In my studio."

Where did your musical inspiration come from?

"As you probably might hear on my productions I am strongly inspired my 80s sounds. As this decade features some of the most strongest Bands and acts like Depeche Mode, Prince and some of the finest oldschool Hip Hop."

The Plug

What is keeping you busy at the moment?

"My newborn 8 week old babyboy ;-) Also everything is going totally mad since last year with Bunny TIger. Lots of productions and collaborations to come. This will definetly be a huge year for Bunny Tiger!"

You have a weekend off. What do you do? Where do you go?

"At the moment if I have a free time I am taking care of my family."

Your label, Bunny Tiger, has seen some excellent releases recently. What's in store for 2013?

"As I already mentioned we have a lot to come, most notably the second compilation Bunny Tiger Selection Vol. 2 with some exclusive unreleased stuff and collaborations with my mates Kolombo, Phonique, LouLou Players, Teenage Mutants and more."

What plans are in place for the coming year?

"The plan is of course to support the Bunny Tiger releases by touring the world."

Biography

When it comes to dance music most people tend to automatically switch off and think of repetitive, unenlightened, brain-poaching drivel. However there are still a few DJs/producers out there who continue to burn the light bright and keep striving to push sound forward, onward and upward and find a way to take it and relate it to the masses... and taking it to the masses is one thing Cologne's Sharam Jey does best.

Sharam Jey has really taken things up to the next level with the release of his second artist album ‘In My Blood'. Not happy to settle on mediocre, he's worked hard and pushed things to unexpected heights, working with a host of amazing collaborators that really vary the sounds of the record and take you by surprise including Princess Superstar, Tommie Sunshine, Andreas Hogby, Nik Valentino (of Lost Valentinos) and Cornelia.

Plus he is also always busy working on remixes for other great names, most recently putting his hands on tracks by Gossip, Moby, Diplo & Don Diablo, Mason & Roisin Murphy and Alex Gopher, the strongest of which will end up on one hot compilation album.

His latest record label 'Bunny Tiger', now at its 6th release, has delivered some of 2012's biggest club tracks. Bunny Tiger will feature some of the hottest collaborations to come in 2013: Phonique, Kolombo, Tapesh and more to come.
