Applebum, promoters of old school hip hop and R&B grooves, has today laid down a full line-up for its 2016 residency at Sankeys Ibiza, and this is a block party hosted by beat-makers you'll want to get on board with.
Bringing hip hop to the island is no mean feat, and the Applebum crew is out to prove it means business. Luckily for us, that's translated into a line-up of musical legends, meaning we'll be spending our Tuesday nights bumping and grinding in the company of some of hip hop's finest.
Heading the charge is none other than sidekick of The Fresh Prince (aka Will Smith) and multi-platinum selling R&B producer, DJ Jazzy Jeff, plus mixing master, Grandmaster Flash, soulful singers of ‘No Diggity', Blackstreet, legendary hip hop producer, DJ Premier, acclaimed turntablist, DJ Yoda, ‘Gangster's Paradise' rapper, Coolio, and hip hop pioneers, Sugarhill Gang. They'll be joined by the equally noteworthy Slum Village, DJ Yella (NWA), Nightmares on Wax, The Furious Five, DJ Craze and Doorly, among many more.
It's a sizzling roster of old school icons, one that proves we were right to be hyped about a fresh musical mix being brought to the island. The jams start rolling on 21st June, coming thick and fast until 13th September, so there's no doubt hip hop has finally found its home in Ibiza.
