[UNVRS] resident Armin van Buuren releases ten-minute documentary

[UNVRS]'s Monday night resident Armin van Buuren has released ten-minute documentary.

Talking with psychotherapist Rachel Giddings, the Dutch Trance master explores the psychology of the dancefloor in the new short.

Together, they research what happens in the minds of fans during his five-hour sets and how music, emotions and collective experiences connect us whilst partying.

The A State of Trance host had the following to say about the project:

"It has been fascinating to look at the dancefloor through a psychological lens during my show. We often talk about what music does to us, but rarely about what actually happens to us when we experience it together.

Why do we feel connected to strangers? Why can a moment on the dancefloor move us so deeply? And why can music make us feel like we’re part of something bigger? The DJ is often at the centre of attention, but the real magic happens on the dancefloor."

The new documentary asks why the communal experience can feel so powerful: what emotional mechanisms are in play when a crowd comes together, how music connects complete strangers and why certain moments on the dancefloor can stay with us long after the party finishes.

The approach deliberately shifts attention away from the modern focus of the DJ as an entertainer placed front-and-centre.

As Armin himself puts it, while the headliners may be at the centre of the spectacle, "the real magic happens on the dancefloor." You can watch the whole documentary above.

Armin has two dates left at [UNVRS] in 2026. The first features his self-styled "face-to-face" concept with Funk Tribu while the last sees him play an extended set.
