After years of playing other people’s parties on the island, the hilariously off-the-wall German DJ and producer Butch is finally throwing one of his own.
Come To Butch lands at Chinois Ibiza for a mini-series of three, bringing the host’s wonderfully unpredictable take on House and Electronica to the fore.
Opening night brings Demi Riquísimo and Jennifer Loveless back-to-back with Fafi Abdel Nour alongside the man himself on Tuesday 18 August.
The week after sees Paramida, Najeh and Shawnecy join Butch on Tuesday 25 August, before the party returns one final time at the end of season on Friday 16 October. Toman, Bambounou and Carl Bergé are the guests on that occasion.
If you know Butch, you'll know exactly what to expect musically. Deep one minute, psychedelic the next, then suddenly something funky, euphoric or completely leftfield.
No predictable roll call of the same names doing the Ibiza rounds, just Butch, a handpicked gang of DJs he rates and a club that feels like a perfect home for it.
To top it off, this whole mini residency has been accompanied by one of the most entertaining Ibiza campaigns we've seen in many years. In it, Butch has been depicted as everything from a showgirl and fortune teller to a mermaid, witch and cowboy riding a fire-spitting horse.
Apparently simply putting his face on a poster wasn't enough. It all fits. Butch has never been particularly interested in doing things by the book or ever taking himself too seriously, whether that's in the booth, the studio or on social media.
In a world of stoic press shots, private jets and wardrobes filled with black tees, Butch is a welcome tonic. Be more like Butch.
