Las Dalias once again proved the perfect backdrop for a celebration of Spanish music and identity as Chambao brought their 25th anniversary tour to the Garden Series, delivering a night steeped in emotion, rhythm and unmistakable Andalusian duende or spirit.
A legendary venue for a legendary band, the setting felt entirely fitting. As the evening unfolded, a packed crowd gathered beneath the palms and shifting lights of the garden stage, forming a vibrant mix of ages and backgrounds, with a strong Spanish presence that set the tone from the outset.
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was already building. It waa full house, with people smiling, moving closer to the stage, settling into place with the easy anticipation of a crowd ready for something special. Green and purple lighting washed across the vegetation, the palms and foliage framing a stage prepared for a night of unbridled celebration.
It did not take long for the energy to rise as a collective roar signalled the arrival of María del Mar Rodríguez, the voice and emotional core of Chambao. With that entrance, the evening shifted into full fiesta mode.
The opening songs drew from the group’s more recent work, carrying their signature blend of relaxed electronic textures and flamenco influence. From the outset, the Andalusian identity of the band was unmistakable, echoed by a strong contingent of fans who responded instinctively to every rhythm and refrain.
Flamenco influence ran deep throughout. The percussion provided a steady pulse, while María’s voice floated above it with an expressive, raw quality that anchored the performance. Hands rose in unison across the crowd in traditional flamenco rhythm, turning the audience itself into part of the show.
Midway through the set, María paused to address the audience with a message of empowerment, dedicating a moment to women and self-belief, a gesture met with warm applause and visible emotion from the crowd.
As the night progressed, the set opened into some of Chambao’s most recognisable songs, including “Pokito a Poko” and “Ahí Estás Tú”, met with full-voice participation from a crowd that knew every word by heart. At points, María delivered passages a cappella, stripping everything back to voice alone and drawing one of the loudest responses of the night.
Around the stage, the sense of release was total. A flamenco dancer moved through the crowd, seemingly unplanned, reacting instinctively to the music as though every note were being physically interpreted in real time. Elsewhere, groups formed spontaneous choreography, dancing without hesitation as the performance unfolded.
More than a concert, the night felt like a collective affirmation of identity and memory. Many in the audience appeared dressed for the occasion, treating it not as a casual evening out but as something to be marked and remembered.
What emerged was a celebration not only of Chambao’s 25-year journey, but of a broader cultural thread; that of Andalusian roots expressed within the cosmopolitan setting of Ibiza. Despite the island’s international reputation, the night felt grounded in something deeply Spanish, shared and understood by all present.
As the final songs rang out, the mood settled into something quietly euphoric. People remained dancing, singing, and holding onto the moment long after the music softened.
Las Dalias once again delivered exactly what it is known for: not just a concert, but an experience rooted in atmosphere, connection and authenticity. Chambao, meanwhile, reminded everyone present why their music has endured for a quarter of a century: it speaks directly to emotion, memory and something unmistakably human.
For those seeking something beyond the usual nightlife circuit, nights like this offer a different rhythm entirely - one shaped by music, place and shared feeling under the Ibiza sky.
