Ibiza’s ever-evolving underground calendar just got a serious injection of UK energy, as Modern Funktion locks in the full line-ups for its debut summer showcases at 528 Ibiza.
The London-born label celebrates five years of championing fresh talent, with an ongoing tour across Europe stopping at Amsterdam, Barcelona, Croatia, Italy, Malta, and Manchester. Now, it’s Ibiza’s turn.
For Modern Funktion’s White Isle touchdown, the outfit comes armed with a stellar line-up of cutting-edge selectors and exclusive back-to-back sets, ensuring that their first impression on Ibizan crowds is a lasting one.
The first instalment on Sunday 28 June sees homeboy House tastemaker Luke Dean head up proceedings, joined by Marsolo and Laidlaw, who are set to soundtrack sundown with infectious rhythm and grooves.
Two weeks later, on Sunday 12 July, the stakes are raised again. L.P Rhythm and The Trip sync up for their debut back-to-back, in what promises to be a standout set from across the two showcases.
Under the same sun, a rare back-to-back ignites between Modern Funktion head honchos Phill de Janeiro and Benji, performing together under their Kepler alias for a rare set that puts the label leaders in full command.
Modern Funktion residents Phill de Janeiro, Jude Lenihan, j:me and Mya will be on-hand for both dates, with long-standing friends of the brand’s tight-knit crew, James Lavelle and Tom Da Silva, reinforcing the party’s community-first ethos.
For those seeking groove-led, forward-facing underground sounds away from the superclub glare, Modern Funktion’s Sunday sessions at 528 Ibiza are two essential open-air gatherings for your Ibiza itinerary.
