Solomun and Boys Noize give Pacha a send-off for the books

The final night of summer 2022 celebrated the season that Ibiza came back.

How do you possibly wrap up the triumphant return of proper, unrestricted, real clubbing to Ibiza? By hitting the closing of Solomun +1 at Pacha - that's how.

The Hamburg alliance of Solomun and Boys Noize was set for the final +1 of the season on Sunday 16 October. The party also had the distinction of being Pacha's final party of 2022 and, indeed, the last super-club event of summer. Some pressure then to deliver.

After doing the Music On double-header on Friday, followed by a 12 hour stint in Amnesia from Saturday night through to Sunday morning, the desire to hit the dancefloor once more was lacking. But, honestly, did you really think there was anyway we were going to miss this?

No chance. Unspoken Ibiza Spotlight clubbing rules clearly state that a presence for the last hurrah is mandatory. Woe betide anyone trying to stop us from attending anyway. Wild horses couldn't drag us away.

The closing to end all closings

Dusting ourselves down and making a fashionably late entrance, we arrived to find a club positively teeming. Even away from the dancefloor, the buzz on the roof terrace and in the garden was electric. It was evident that the entire island had come out for the occasion.

Meeting up with friends and soaking up the atmosphere, it wasn't long before the call of the throbbing dancefloor was beckoning us. This was our primary reason for attending after all.

Big nights call for big records - and you can hardly get bigger than Solomun +1 closing. Fortunately, Mladen and his cohorts have come up trumps this summer - and the final installment was to be no exception. Both Solomun and Boys Noize arrived with a bag of goodies.

Anyma's (one half of Tale Of Us) forthcoming remix of Turn On The Lights from Fred Again and Swedish House Mafia, the soon to be released Let Us Rave from Boys Noize himself and Prins Thomas Diskomiks of Mala Ika's Fall fit the mould.

Amongst those, Ben Sterling's modern take on Tiga's Mind Dimension lit a rocket under the feet of everybody in attendance, zapping energy and enthusiasm into the dancefloor.

On top of this, it was a given that the back-to-back would also be peppered with both men's own productions and remixes.

Solomun's Alive remix for RÜFÜS DU SOL being one such track, before our host ended the night on his atmospheric Foal's remix - at least until the inevitable cries of "more" from the late night crew.

Perhaps it was one from Boys Noize that felt most poignant, however.

Dropping his reinterpretation of Solomun's own Home. After two years away, Solomun came home in 2022 - and so did his Ibiza crowd. There's little suggestion or appetite that Solomun should look to be on the move.

He and Pacha just gel so well together, it's hard to imagine him anywhere else.

Cruising into the dying embers of the night, as is customary at closing parties, we also had a few stone cold classics thrown into the mix. These serotonin-boosting moments included the mid-Noughties acid rework of M.A.W's Work and Timo Maas' gargantuan remix of Dooms Night.

Yet it was the braying calls for our two DJs to continue after the house lights had come up that spawned jubilant scenes with You Make Me Feel by Sylvester.

Arms went around groups of friends, girls were hoisted onto shoulders and the crazies threw out their most outrageous dance moves. Guilty pleasures were high on the body count in 2022, but for this one we were absolutely here for it.

The above should give you a nice overview of the music played on the night, but if you'd like to delve into deeper detail, press play and hit subscribe on our Solomun +1 Ibiza 2022 playlist:

Four parties in three days completed - and Solomun +1 was the cherry on top. What a way to end the Ibiza 2022 club season.
