Ibiza Spotlight selects: top water sports

Get on the water, get wet, have lots of fun.

Ibiza and Formentera are famous for the beautiful, clear waters that surround them.

With stunning coastline to boast of as well as wild and wonderful marine life, you have a water sports adventure playground right on your doorstep!

Thanks to the Balearic Islands' abundance of sunny days, the sea is warm enough to enjoy a paddle, surf, or adrenaline-fuelled Jet Ski ride any time between June and October (or even May until November, if you are brave).

We've got a superb selection of water-based activities for you, so read on below and find the one (or ones) for you.

Another great way to enjoy sea and coast is by chartering a boat for the day - choose from our pick of top boat charter companies.

Yacht Watersports Ibiza

Santa Eulalia

Daredevils and thrillseekers will love everything Yacht Watersports Ibiza offer. Sailing out of the Santa Eulalia sport marina, the team will take you to fabulous spots to test out their arsenal of cutting-edge watersport gadgets. From jet skis to waterjet-powered Flyboards, you can try your hand at almost every aquatic toy imaginable. If you have ever dreamed of having a go on Marty McFly's 'hoverboard' from 1980s classic movie Back To The Future, an eFoil ride is as close as it gets! The futuristic 'flying surfboards' allow the rider to float a few feet over the water. With one or two private lessons, quick learners can be up in the air after just 20 minutes of training.

Ibiza Jet Ski

San Antonio & Cala Bassa Beach

With a choice of 30-, 60- and 90-minute blasts on the waves, you can dip your toe into the Jet Ski waters or get a deep dive. Let Ibiza Jet Ski take you further afield on one of its longer trips to see places such as the Islas Margaritas or the magically titled Puertas del Cielo (Heaven's Gate in English). You are taught by multi-lingual professionals and you don't even need a licence. So, what's stopping you? Get exhilarated on this super trip!

Kayak Ibiza

Es Figueral beach & Portinatx

Kayaking is an adventure and Kayak Ibiza really makes it one. See yourself drifting past coastline and small islets that most people never get to see, stopping by hidden beaches and seeing marine life up close. That and getting a workout whilst having fun. There are snorkel and beach stops for refreshments too. Also check out the company's excellent Sunset Kayak Excursion from Portinatx.

Sup Paradise Ibiza

San Antonio

Over on the west coast is SUP Paradise Ibiza, an outfit which has lots of experience of Stand Up Paddle and this gorgeous part of the island. Expect underwater caves, a graceful glide past the beach of Cala Salada and just beautiful coastline on this cool aquatic exploit. Paddle boarding is made much easier with these guys and you even have a welcome cocktail to steady those nerves before you get started.

Scuba Ibiza Diving Center

Ibiza Town

Crystal clear waters, shipwrecks, shoals of fish and underwater caves - who wouldn't want to go deep sea diving on the White Isle? Ibiza Town's Scuba Ibiza Diving Center is PADI-5-star certified - the "Gold Standard" in scuba. These guys can train everyone from beginners up to diving instructor and all points in between. Submerge yourself and enjoy spectacular underwater landscapes.

Sup Yoga

Cala Vadella

Cala Vadella's natural harbour makes a terrific spot to take to paddle boarding. SUP Yoga offers a four-hour SUP trip to and around the magical, awe-inspiring rock of Es Vedrà. Then there's a shorter tour to Atlantis, which is great if there are a few of of you. Early risers will adore the morning SUP-board yoga class. It's followed by an energising breakfast included in the price. We want to do them all!

If you want to get around the island, renting a car from one of our specially selected local suppliers is your best bet.
