Best Ibiza hotels to catch the sunset

Great vantage points to see the spectacular sinking sun.

Everyone who visits Ibiza is charmed by the wonderful golden sunsets that crown the end of each day. One of the island's greatest pleasures is watching the last drop of golden sunshine dip beneath the horizon, whilst contemplating the multitude of possibilities that the night has yet to bring.

Naturally, the best sunset hotels are located along the west coast of the island and here we've rounded up some of the best of them where you can catch the best view of the disappearing orange orb we call the sun.

7Pines Resort IBIZA

The deluxe 7Pines Resort Ibiza, close to Cala Conta has been carefully designed to maximise its privileged cliff-top position and allow guests to enjoy its stunning 270-degree vista from every point. Every evening, as the sun goes down, the moment is celebrated in a poignant gong ceremony at the Cone Club restaurant and anyone can go and visit, not just hotel guests. Take note.

Marina Playa Hotel

A lovely apartment complex with the facilities of a hotel that's entirely adults-only. From the Marina Playa Hotel Apartments' position in the vastness that is San Antonio Bay, you can catch the sun falling from its long sunset terrace that looks over Es Pueto beach into the bay beyond. Weekly events, a good number of places to eat and some of the best cocktails around make perfect accompaniments for watching this spectacle.

Sol House Ibiza

Sol House is a hotel popular for a younger crowd of European ravers with its spectacular roof terrace and cocktail bar being the perfect place to enjoy the sunset in style. Complete with an extensive wooden deck and an infinity pool, choose your spot for a fabulous panoramic view of the sunset, whilst listening to top DJ sets - and it's open to all comers. I'm calling a taxi right now.

Wi-Ki Woo Hotel

The Wi-Ki Woo Hotel is a quirky and eccentric destination hotel situated by San Antonio's Caló des Moro beach, facing the evening sunshine. It is also where there is always something going on, with the seafront terrace where all the action happens. Here get a master-mixologist-made cocktail, try some finger food or relax on one of the day beds by the pool before getting ready to say bye bye to the biggest star in our galaxy.

Sol Bahía Ibiza Suites

If you are wanting to see the setting sun and don't want to move far, the Sol Bahía Suites' position towards the end of San Antonio's part of the bay is a great choice. The pool area looks directly onto a big blue expanse of water for terrific and uninterrupted views. That plus, this is a lovely and peaceful location. Those lucky guests who chose the sea-facing suites can enjoy the golden evening glow with a glass of cava from the cheekily positioned window bathtub.

Cubanito Ibiza Suites

A little further along the bay towards Cala Gració are the Cubanito Ibiza Suites, a Little-Havana-themed concept hotel offering stunning panoramic views from its roof terrace cocktail bar. This adults-only hotel is the perfect spot to sip a Margarita at the end of the day, as the sun goes down. Go to one of the hotel's regular events to see the sunset accompanied by the beats of Latin DJs like Salsero or Malanguea nights. Mine's a rum.

Hostal La Torre

One of Ibiza's worst kept secrets, Hostal La Torre close to Cala Gració has undeniably one of the best views on the island from its restaurant terrace. So good, in fact, that it has converted into a peaceful and stylish shrine to the sunset. What began as a quiet “off the beaten track” hostel has become an island phenomenon, with DJ sets from top island residents and the occasional surprise guest star drawing a nice crowd of worshippers at sunset time.

Blau Parc Aparthotel

The Blau Parc Aparthotel in San Antonio offers a great sea view from all its west-facing rooms. Imagine, sitting on your balcony, cocktail in hand in complete privacy and enjoying the last of the day's golden rays. If you're not lucky enough to have a room facing the sea, a sundown drink at the extremely popular Golden Buddha bar or dinner at the sophisticated Ample 32 restaurant, both part of the same complex, should easily compensate.
